Alfriston - East Sussex
Alfriston is a small village in East sussex famous for being a hide-out for smugglers way back when. I remember VT member Leffe3 (Keith) recommending it in a forum about 6 months ago and since we were in the area we decided to make a stop. It is very qauint and worth talking a walk around. There is parking very close to the village centre which makes it very convenient and if you have children you will welcome the fact that there are toilets in the car park as well (clean ones too!).
There are some lovely shops and tea rooms. As you walk up from the village look out for a little Teddy Bear shop on your left just back from the main road. Upstairs they have a little room with old pictures and some history about the village which is well worth a visit. The shop is also in a lovely old house with low beamed ceilings. Unfortunately we were there a bit early for dinner but there were some nice looking restaurants with traditional English fayre.
