After my first 2 months in Manchester, overwelmed by work, without many friends at that time and 3 months after my last haircut I was feeling depressed and wanted to go back go Mexico ASAP!
I took the Metrolink back from work looking forward to a nice bath but it didn't help, the rainy weather didn't help my mood, I only needed a dog to pee on my leg.
I walked by Regent Road in Altrincham and saw a hairstylists place so I went in. I asked for a haircut and they asked what kind of haircut did I want. I have always had "normal" haircuts so that was what I asked for. They insisted and mentioned if I wanted it done by "stylist", a "senior stylist", a "style director" or an "art director". I was impressed and truly didn't know what to answer. They said at that time only the Art Director and owner was available but it would cost me 44 pounds!!
I was decided to leave but the Art Director said he would do it for 30 pounds because he noticed I was Mexican.
He was really nice and happened to have traveled around Mexico from north to south driving when he used to be a young hippie. We had a long chat and I found out he uses to cut Madonnas hair when she's around and he was a furniture designer who happened to sell those pieces to the prince of Monaco and Elton John!!!
At that time I didn't see my hair at all because of the nice chat. When the guy turned me around I almost killed him as he made a horrible cut , well... too modern for my taste.
This kind of tips might be useful speciallly when you move to a place for a long time and can save you money. If I had this kind of information at that time I would have saved 30 pounds!
