Travel Tips for Altrincham

Dimensions Hairstylists

by alfredop

A cheaper option for a nice haircut done by cute English or Central European Girls can be Dimensions. Located in the center of Altrhingham.

Expect to pay from 10 to 15 pounds for a haircut depending on how well the girls know you and how long your hair is.

Located at 33a Regent Road in Altrincham

Gourmet Vegetarian Food

by Piggy73

"Vegetarian Cookery School"

The purpose of my visit was to attend a one week course for my "Cordon Vert Vegetarian Cookery Diploma (foundation)". This was based at the official UK Vegetarian Society HQ in Altrincham where they also house a cookery school.

It was a fantastic experience, as we explored cookery from vegan and vegetarian angles and of course there was an abundance of food to sample. I'm not sure it would be possible to work at their HQ and stay thin !

In 2006 the structure of their course has changed and the Diploma is only open to professional chefs. However they run many short courses that may be worth considering.

Accommodation is available at the school.

What is Groby Lawn?

by alfredop

Within a large Victorian house in its own grounds, the Redfords have created a number of spacious suites and end-suite bedrooms -all designed with the needs of the professional person in mind.

The house is luxuriously furnished with period antiques and most rooms also feature a desk and worklamp, bathing robes, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, a microwave, fridge, colour television and direct dial telephone. There is ample car parking space as well.

This makes Groby Lawn a uniquely confortable and well equipped home base for:

- an overnight stay
- employees on secondment from another company site
- international travellers
- people who are relocating and their families either within the U.K. or from abroad
- those working on local projects
- people attending training schemes
- a weekend break
- film and T.V. locations.

As well as their U.K. clients, they hae a particularly fine record in making long stay visitors from abroad feel welcome as happened to me, and their experience with overseas guests and their families means that they hae now extended their service to include informal activities which give an insight into their often unfamiliar culture and customs, should this be required.

Events have already included days out to local attractions such as Tatton Park and the Wedgwood Museum, demonstrations of western cookery for the wives of Japanese executives and, of course, visits to sporting events, antique fairs and the local pub.

Equally, their detailed local knowledge has proved invaluable to people relocating into the area and they have developed good working relationships with several relocation agencies. A valuable service to both companies and individuals alike.

Proximity to Altrincham town centre with its varied selection of restaurants makes Groby Lawn an ideal location. The Metrolink terminus is a five minute walk away. It takes only fifteen minutes to get to Manchester International Airport by car and, of course, Altrincham is within easy reach of Manchester city centre and the splendid Trafford Centre also all motorway and rail networks.

This has been only a brief summary of what Groby Lawn provides.
