PennyHill Park Hotel + Country Club -
PHP is an awesome hotel, it has just been awarded the 'Hotel of The Year 2002' Award from the hotel business governing body. I have to give a shout because i used to work there!! awesome hotel.

Cheaper than most good hotels, large leisure complex, the best food in England.
The cost for a regular room is around 150 pounds, or about $200

The top rooms are 500 pounds or about $700 per night

Beautiful, Peaceful & Romantic

My boyfriend treated me to a surprise night away at the end of April.

I truly enjoyed my 1 night stay at Pennyhill Park, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were totally looked after and the staff could not do enough to help.

We stayed in the 'Ivy' room and this was very well decorated and included a TV in the bathroom.

Dinner was very expensive but v good.

Would def recommend a stay to indulgence and enjoy the spa.

Countryside Heaven

We had heard lots of good reviews about Pennyhill Park and were pleased that it truly lived up to expectations. From being met from the taxi by a smiling porter, through to the reception and spa staff - they were professional throughout. Our two floor room was huge, easily the size of our flat with a stunning view. (They had forgotten to place flowers as requested, but this was quickly rectified)
By far the best aspect of the hotel is the amazing spa which we never wanted to leave. Every facility was clean and looked cared for, from the outside jacuzzis, plunge pools and numerous steam rooms to the massage chairs.
Prior to our evening meal, we had a drink at the bar and were presented with the menu to choose our meal at leisure, which was a nice touch. The only downside was the room, which looked very similar to many lower starred hotels and was the same room for breakfast. The food however was good and we had a pleasant time. From start to finish, we loved our stay and whilst expensive, it's truly worth it.

almost perfect...

I booked a friday night offer costing 150 pounds, from their website, which included full English breakfast and 100 pounds credit towards dinner. Added a further 100 pounds to upgrade to a suite. The name of the suite is Carisbrook, which had a jacuzzi inside, but no view! There was feedback earlier on about room facing a grass ledge - well, my view was also of a grassy slope facing the lobby. However the room was furnished very well. Good supply of tea and coffee, but no milk. TVs by the bed, sofa and bathtub, but the sound on the sofa TV a bit wonnky.

Check-in was fast and staff were generally very polite and helpful. We asked for some ice, which only came after two further requests. Dinner booking was for 9pm and we were really hungry by 7. We called reception to ask if they could put us to an earlier slot, but apparently it was full. Decided to try our luck at 830 and were surprised to note that the restaurant was only half full!

Overall, pretty good, but would have expected more from the price.

Ouch - lucky I wasn't paying...

I stayed here for 36 hours (2 days/1 night) for a work event with 20 others from the team.

Rooms: I stayed in the Tulip room - which has a a lounge (no real view) and a bathroom with a great view. The room was in traditional English style - with a door bell! Nice bathroom, proper size bath, the heated floor was a nice touch, but besides the bathroom the furniture looked a little tired.

The TV's are shocking! At this price you would expect LCD tv's with full sky reception, not 14" with 6 channels that work (ok I know you're not here to watch TV but anyway).

Lunch: We ate the brassiere, lunch was good - buffet style with the staff happy to help and get food items that weren’t on display.

Dinner:Some dinner food portions very small (except the steak), staff somewhat disorganised, we had to encourage them to take our order for both the main meal and the dessert. Avoided the seafood - it didn't look as fresh as it could. More than once we stood up to get the wine to fill our glasses, there just wasn't a proactive approach to the waitering - more reactional and often we could see our food under the hot lamps and had to encourage the staff to move the plates from there to the table. You'd find better service/food at a gastro pub.

The Spa is very impressive, well worth a visit, with ice rooms, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor pools and spas, and the 16c plunge pool - chilly!

Other notes: Free wi-fi is handy - ask reception for a login, drinks are very expensive!

Overall: Wouldn't pay to stay here with my own money – based on the rack rate - but a good place for a business team event.

Oh my god!!

WOW! This hotel is total luxury & is expensive, but if you are looking for a get away that's luxurious & a real treat stay here.
We stayed in the Goodwood Suite - I could do 5 cartwheels the length of the room!
Big 4 poster bed, loads of windows & light, deep bath & huge wet room/shower area with heated tiles, TV was poor but who goes to hotel to watch TV? If you are on business then the TV does the job
Staff helpful & very courteous
Beautiful building & old style rooms to keep with the old feel of the hotel but with all mod cons
The Spa - double wow. It's huge - we stayed in there ALL DAY til we we're wrinkly.
Pool, ice house, turkish baths, whirlpools, outdoor pool, cold dip pool thing, massage chairs, free water & fruit everywhere & affordale & decent lunches/snacks to eat at poolside, loads of fluffy towels, it was bliss... we came away so chilled

My favourite hotel in the whole world

by TripAdvisor Member Lorrayne G

Funnily enough, I live less than 5 miles from this hotel and I still choose to spend time here whenever I can. If I had a choice between a flight and a nice hotel or no flight and an absolutely amazing hotel - guess what, there is no contest! :)

Although I lived nearby, I hadn't heard about the Pennyhill until my boss mentioned it as a potential place to spend my honeymoon night back in 2003 - and we duly did. Funnily enough, my check in experience went quite badly - but it was the amazing customer service that they showed to me when they realised that my honeymoon night was in danger of going badly wrong that secured my loyalty forever - and this was before the amazing spa was even open!

A mixup had occured in that we had originally booked one room, but after a tour of the hotel we changed to 'Lilly' both because it was beautiful and because our daughter has Lily as one of her names. But for some reason, the change wasn't successfully made - so when we checked in, they took us to our original room and Lily was already occupied by someone else - there was no way to change - the hotel was fully booked.

There I was, standing in my wedding dress, in the wrong room and I could feel the tears starting to well up.. my husband was upset for me, but so was the duty manager. He literally went down on one knee begged me not to cry and promised me that he would do everything he could to make it right. He couldn't kick the people out of Lilly, and I had to stay where we were because they were fully booked - don't get me wrong, the room we were in was beautiful, just not the room we booked - so we were showered with pink champagne, free meals, and a free room. We left the next day not having paid a penny. PLUS, we were invited back to stay in Lilly at a date of our choice, again completely free of charge. What more could we ask for?

So, from then on, we have been regular visitors to the hotel - whenever we go for a romantic mean or a valentines break - we go back to Pennyhill to relive the romance. Doesn't matter that we are not actually that far away from home - we feel like we are miles from anywhere! I was slightly miffed when the company I work for booked a miniconference at the hotel recently, but I was able to not let it burst my bubble! :)

I am a regular enough visitor now to feel 'at home' when I arrive - which is saying something because it is such a swanky hotel..... we visit for drinks, dinner and the odd night stay. I feel very fortunate to know that, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in is just 10 minutes away from where I actually live - and I can visit whenever I wish!

Very expensive but worth it for the spa

by TripAdvisor Member Pink_Buddha

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night as part of a weekend mini break from London. We economised on the first night so we could splash out here!!! My boyfriend is very cheap so he was balking at the price but once we got there he thought it was worth it. Well we actually stayed on a Sunday night which was a special offer including dinner and breakfast and the room for £150. Then we booked treatments at the spa in order to cover the spa entry. If I had to do it over I would have just booked a slightly more expensive room which included spa entry as the treatment (a massage) was nothing special and was £80 pp.

The room was very luxurious, in an old fashioned sort of way. My boyfriend was in heaven as he was able to watch TV from the bath (there is a TV in the bathroom!!!). Dinner was OK, the dining room was lovely but the food was so-so. We ordered breakfast in our room which was fab - I special ordered a few things and they delivered everything I asked for.

The spa was amazing, I loved loved loved the giant crystals all over the place, the endless fluffy towels and the outdoor hot tubs. My boyfriend didn't enjoy it as much as I did, however he was chuffed to see England rugby players throughout the spa. So something for everyone really!!!

We didn't have time to go for a walk in the grounds, but they appeared to be massive - so, we will have to go back now I guess!

Lovely Hotel ,Spa and surroundings

As a special treat to my wife and I, we booked a night here to get away and spend some quality time together.

The Hotel was fabulous , the spa wonderful and room very nice.
It was nice to be able to watch Match of the Day whilst in the shower, but the rooms are worthy of much better televisions as previously stated.

We ate in the Ascot Bar, which although 3rd choice restaurant here, much better then most Hotels 1 st choice restaurant.
Drinks etc pricey but what you would expect at this type of establishment.
Service in restaurant and bar very good, well staffed and nothing was too much trouble.

We decided to go back to our room and call room service for Deserts and drinks.
I called them and waited 35 mins but nobody came.
So I called them again and spoke to same person , he said thats strange and promised me our order would be served to us very soon.
10 minuted later the man I spoke to ( He had a very recognisable accent ) arrived with our order, he apologised and said he would deduct 20 %off the price , I almost said dont bother.
However he must have spoke to someone and 5 mins later called back and said there would be no charge.

We awoke Sunday morning and as I rarely have a cooked breakfast I was really looking forward to what I expected to be an outstanding one, what a dissapointment.
It was self service buffet style.
Cereals croissants fruit etc could not be faulted but as for the Full English , choice was quite limited and most items stone cold.
Even the toast you had to make yourself.

I dont think I have ever written a negative report and Im not fussy , but the previous few items let this superb hotel and spa down, Im afraid it will be the Celtic Manor next time !
