To the east of Bridport high on a hill is the Hardy memorial - it can be seen for miles around and the views from the top of the hill it stands on are superb.
The tower was closed the day we went although no reason was given but for a nominal fee it is possible to climb inside the tower in the summer months to the top.
This is not, as we thought, a memorial to Hardy the writer but to the Hardy of Nelson and Trafalger fame.
