Travel Tips for Bury

Bury, Lancashire

by Bev&Gerry

"Home!"

Bury is a small town in the foothills of The Penines. To the north you have rolling hills and quaint villages in the valleys like Ramsbottom. On the M66 it's a 15 minute ride into Manchester City Centre - great for shopping or nights out. Handy for the airport, yet in the heart of the northern countryside.

why should I go to Bury? (rhetorical)

"Go to these places"

One of the best places is Asda superstore. Only joking (not really), go to Chesham Woods, Burrs Country Park, Holcombe Hill, Ashworth Valley and Deeply Vale. They're all good for walking, as my dogs will tell you.

Just out of town is Jumbles Country Park and the walk around the pub called The Strawberry Duck. Takes about an hour and justifies your lunch. (also recommended by dogs).

Oh yes and go to the market, aparently it's famous for black pudding!
