Hostel: Youth Hostel Charm

Buttermere Youth Hostel, found on the road to the east of Lake Buttermere. A rather pleasant slate building, a bit like myself attractive but a bit too grey.
Very nice stay here. Facilities include a communal self catering kitchen, dining room which serves dinner and breakfasts. The kitchen contains enough stoves , pots and pans for basic cooking for a few people at a time. There is a communal tv lounge as well.
Showers and toilets were clean and enough to go around as well.

We stayed in the two bedded room with pics attached. It was three flights of stairs up with no lift so a little iffy if you struggle with the stairs.

Did not try the evening dinner but the full cardiac breakfast was great, limited hot eggs and bacon but unlimited toast, drinks, fruit and cereal. The hostel locks everyone in and out at 11pm which is a bit disappointing given the pub down the road. Alcohol is served in the hostel and they have a no 'own alcohol' rule.

Location, great views except from our attic room. A very cheap option in the Lake District but not if you are on your own, see the website for more detail.
