Coal mining town becomes leisure town

"Castleford"

Castleford is an old town dating from Roman times with 38000 inhabitants. It was until the 1980s a coal mining town in the Yorkshire coal field but the collapse of this industry has seen the town move in a new direction - shopping and leisure on the outskirts of town.
The town itself is probably not worth a detour from the M62 but the area from the interchange at junction 32 definatly is.
