Brickhouse,Swinglehurst Lane: Camping Club and Caravan Club CL's.
We booked this site a few weeks before visiting when it had rained a lot. We chose it because it had hard standings as well as electric and was in an area we wanted to re-visit. Were we glad it had hard standings!! The day we were due on the site it blew a gale and rained torrentially so we postponed for a day. Many places were flooded but we were lucky that the site remained water free although the grass was extremely boggy. The only problem with the pitches is you have to drive on the grass to manouvre onto the pitches. Amazingly we didn't get bogged in and were happy when our wheels were on the hard.
Actually, confusingly, there are two sites here, the Caravan Club CL and the Camping Club CL, managed by different members of the same family. The pitches are level and there are pleasant views to the fells. There is also a small unguarded pond so keep an eye on children.
The village is only five minutes walk away.
Unique Quality: A quiet and peaceful site in a village location, set in the heart of Lancashire and on the edge of the Trough of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Electric points, hard standings, tin, bottle and plastic recycling. Also an information hut with leaflets.
Next to the site is the village bowling green, for anyone in to that sort of thing.
