Mansion House

Stayed there once, about 2003.

Room smelled like an ashtray. Full house, so we couldn't be moved. By the time we left, I smelled like an ashtray as well. Luckily it was late spring, so we could sleep with the window open. the room was old fashioned and grotty anyway.

They decided to close the swimming pool early, so we didn't get much use out of that.

The informal "diner" was closed so we had the choice between the expensive "formal" restaurant or going out. We gave it a try and the food was good, but its the kind of place you take your prospective in laws if you're trying to impress them. Not much fun. Mostly inhabited by 50 something couples with nothing left to say to each other.

Its an expensive hotel

Unique Quality: It stands out in my memory a being the worst value for money I'd come across in a long time.

Directions: West side of town, close to Tesco.
