Stayed 1 night here in November 08. Booked 1 single (£38) and 1 twin (£45 for single occupancy), breakfast included in both cases.
They only charged me £70 - bulk discount I guess! I'd already decided I liked the place before that. 2 simple reasons - I slept very well, and at breakfast they gave me a big pot of good filter coffee. I'm easy pleased...
Honestly though, having worked in hotels and having stayed in many - from de luxe to the very basic - I am fussy.
The place was warm, comfortable and clean. The staff (owner's daughter, actually) were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good, with plenty choice and good coffee (did I mention that already).
The building itself is impressive - pictures on the website. A comfortable lounge, with books, magazines and Monopoly, although the decor and furnishings could best be described as "eclectic".
It's a 5 minute walk to the town centre, for shops, sightseeing, dinner or whatever, but the area is very quiet.
I recommend it if value for money is your objective.
PS - back on a return visit Feb 09!
Unique Quality: The coffee.
Unusually for a guest house, they'll give you dinner as well if ordered at the time of booking and for 6 or more diners.
Directions: Close to the railway station.
If you come out of the station car park, turn right. Cross straight over the roundabout, then take the 1st left. Its right there as you enter Duff Avenue.
Look at their website for a good map.
