Clifton, is well worth a... by Aragina
Clifton, is well worth a visit, purely because of the marvelous architecture, it is one of the most original Victorian areas left in this part of the world. It was originally a medievil Town but was destryed by Prince Rupert in the Civil war in the 1640's. The village of Clifton has many wonderful small and unusual shops, most which I spend a lot of time in, there are shops which sell Bristol Blue Glass, stained glass nick nacks, antique shops, so many specialist shops, but a warning it is very expensive there. You might need a second mortgage. if walking up form Bristol the hills are really very steep, so unless you are really fit, get a bus :-).
It was with great suprise that I found that my Greatgrandmother was born in Clifton in 1868, so my genes brought me back to Bristol.
The Pic is of Royal York Cresent which I pass every day when I pick up Greebo from work, the sight is still something I love to look at.Finding a great little jewelery shop in the arcade in Clifton, it was origanally an old church, but this shop specialises in 1920 jewelery and other items, they even kitted out a TV program with all the clothing,it is worth seeing :-).
