More about Hunstrete House

Bristol, England

by geanster

We had tea at this really great place called Hunstrete House Hotel. There were many small deer in the surrounding fields and we walked around the gardens and pool of the place, toyed with the idea of playing croquet and toasted Anthony as it was the night before he was leaving for school in the US.

"Bristol, England"

I went to England around the same time I visited Scotland. I'd met these great guys and their families at Daytona Beach, months before. To this day, they're one of the greatest group of people I've ever met. This photo was taken outside of The Horn and Trumpet one night in Bristol. I flew into London and my friend Jonathan and his mom picked me and a friend of mine up and drove us to Bristol where we stayed almost a week with them before riding up to Scotland. I came back and spent nearly another week with them after the trip and had such an amazing time.

One day, Jonathan and I picked up the walking map and did around 8 miles looking at all of the spots, going into tiny art museums, up towers, across bridges, a picnic lunch in front of some of the legislation buildings, I think. :) The weather in England did hold out nicely before raining my last couple of days there.

I know I must have a ton more photos at home in Kentucky, but this is all I have available right now really.

Travel Tips for Bristol

Millenium Bridge

by JuliaK

Yes we have our own Millenium Bridge in Bristol. It is something that most of the people, that don't go often near Temple Meads (train station), don't see. It is just behind Temple Meads and I didn't know that it was there until my boyfriend told me.
That's a view of the bridge that is a bit more "artistic"...

SHANGRI-LA at The Old...

by laura21

SHANGRI-LA at The Old Porthouse
The only club in Bristol that plays 60's soul music. It is on every Friday, 10.00-3.00. Entry - £3 before 11, £4 before 12, £5 after. Very large club, 2 dance floors, 2 bars, brilliant atmosphere. I don't think there's a dress code but a few of the blokes were wearing suits

Mud Dock

by Duffelgirl about MUD DOCK

The Mud Dock is primarily a bike shop, but this should not understate the quality of the food served upstairs in the cafe. The interior is 'industrial', i.e. Lots of metal, big chunks of wood and bikes on the ceiling. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed with soft jazzy tunes playing in the background. The staff are very friendly and efficient. You can even sit outside on a sunny day and look over the Docks.
A FEW MONTHS LATER.. Unfortunately the chef must have cooked his/her last meal in this restaurant and my taste buds are no longer tingling from what were simple yet delicious dishes- the food is just your average fare nowadays. All good things must come to an end (sigh). It was the Mississippi Mudpie.......... but it must have gone with the chef as it's no longer on the menu :-(. (can you tell I am bitterley disappointed?!). There is still a fine selection of largers available.
