temple meads station to airport - help!

by xantria

i have a 7:15am flight out of bristol airport, of which checkin closes at 6:45. The only train i can get in the morning from cardiff is due to arrive at temple meads station at 5:37am. How far away is the airport from here? what is my best option to get there? i can see info for an internation flyer bus which leaves at 5:50 and arrives at 6:10, or if i miss that one then 6:10 to 6:30. how much would a taxi cost? would it be quicker?

It's about 10 miles, should cost around 15 GBP and take about half the time of the bus (which the airport website says takes 30 minutes rather than 20).

You can buy the bus ticket on the bus so my advice would be to get the bus and use that. You always have the back up of plenty of taxis at the train station in case your train or the bus is late.
The good thing is that at that time of the morning you will whizz to the airport whichever option you choose as there will be hardly any traffic and at that time of the morning the bus should be on time.
Have a safe trip.

Beware the 'Bristol L'. Let me...

by rbaynton

Beware the 'Bristol L'. Let me explain, if a word ends in a vowel - especially an 'A', Bristolians will add an 'L', so if your name is Gloria, you will be Glorial. It can get confusing, eg if you ask about the Bristol area, you will get told all about the Bristol aerial

Old Bristol. Not much remains...

by greebo

Old Bristol. Not much remains of old Bristol as it was heavily bombed during the war and many areas were completely flattened. However in the central area of Bristol there are many little gateways and alley which upon wandering down you can find original cobbled ways and houses that date from the 16th century also can be found original lighting features and wrought ironwork. These areas hard to find unless you know they are there, so spend some time walking around the little arches and alleys in central Bristol.

Temple Meads

by JuliaK

An easy way to get to Bristol is by train. Temple Meads station connects to every major city in the UK. As soon as you arrive there, just outside the station (thats where the photo is) you can either take a taxi and go to your destination or a bus (No 9/8/180 for the center of Bristol)

Latin American cuisine with attitude

by KennetRose about Casa Sudaca

Ricardo Casagran, a Chilean former refugee, runs this Latin American restaurant as a cooperative. The menu is fixed-price, and very good value. There is a small selection of wines, but the best bet is to bring your own, which is what most people do. This is a great place for a group gathering. Sudaca is also the base for a number of leftist and internationalist groups. Ricardo is particularly energetic in supporting Cuban causes. Gambas al vino - prawns in a white wine sauce, served on a bed of rice.
