Airport to Yha

by zmvc

Hi.

What is the best and cheapest way of getting from the bristol airport to the YHA Hostel in 14 Narrow Quay?

Is the area safe to walk at night?

Thanks

The hostel is signposted from the city centre.

Map here:

Get a bus from the airport into the city centre:

or

It'll be safe enough.

I suggest you catch the 330 service and get off at the Baldwin Street stop. The YH is a 100m walk from there, opposite the Watershed Arts Centre. There are lots of late night bars, pubs and takeaways nearby so there should be plenty of people around in the evening, quite safe I would say (unless you are drunk and fall into the harbour, haha).

This photo is a building called The Old Fish Market which is actually a pub; In the old days, it was a fish market !
Lovely structures nonetheless for my eyes...
In here, we can get some excellent draught ales & also a mural depicting the fish market !
Did I go in ? No, I didn't...enough for me to see it from the outside...It's at 61, Baldwin Street; Tel : 921 1515...

There's an astonishing amount of graffiti going on in Bristol....... Banksy is just the famous one. (There'll probably be a banksy heritage trail before long, and now the Council will clean up Banksys that have been defaced.)

Stokes Croft, which features several hoardings that are regularly repainted with spectacular murals is now a tourist attraction: it's a rare occasion to walk down it and not encounter somebody taking photographs of the work on display.

the RAINBOW bridge
I'm lying. I think. Because if my guess is right this bridge is only here because there was a beaten path here and the railway cutting severed it: a 'rights of way' footbridge, actually only providing a marginal shortcut rather than a vital link.

A very ordinary bit of steelwork, it's been painted up by local children. The little oval plaques at either end tell you that you are crossing from Montpelier into St Andrews. (the one in the middle dates the bridge to 1904)

Music pub with real raw atmosphere

by KennetRose about The Fleece

Venue for many a fine gig by up-and-coming or once-famous performers. Look out in particular for appearances by Bristol pub band K-Passa. Think Pogues with a westcountry accent and you won't be far wrong. Their gigs are a blast. Best not to overdress.

English pub with character

by JuliaK about Hope and Anchor

It is not the typical pub thas serves only burgers and chips...
They have a wide variety of snacks/meals and the best sandwiches in town. It is beautiful to go when the weather is nice and sunny and you can enjoy your drink and food at the back garden. The atmospere is so relaxed that you feel that you are at a friends back garden. The staff as well is so cool !!! And the prices are more than friendly! 1)Brie, Salami on wholemeal bread +
2) Fries with cheese-cheddar ( the most "cheesy" fries that you will ever eat!!! they put a so much cheese that it should cost them more than the fries...)
