We booked into the Day's hotel to save the hassle of driving down from Milton Keynes early in the morning. We arrived at the hotel greeted by the smell of cigarettes from the crowd of smokers gathered in the entrance way. We proceeded to the reception and waiting almost 20 minutes to be checked in. Linda seemed to be single handily running the hotel working the bar, restaurant and reception. A few minutes later Martin casually walked out of the back office sniggering at a text he was typing. And took over the check in process or bit it some what reluctantly and still texting as he serviced us.
The room was clean and very comfortable. We dropped our bags in the room and went down to the restaurant. We stopped at the bar first to order and again Martin was no where to be seen and poor Linda was running around frantically apologising. We ordered at 8pm and although just five table were occupied after an hour I got up and complained.
Martin was at the reception and after relaying my complain the simply shrugged his shoulders and told me it wasn’t his problem. I was shocked when I asked him his position when he replied, deputy manager.
We accepted the expense of a hotel stay prior to our flight and agreed it would be the start of our holiday, a nice relax, a meal and a drink before our busy day of travelling. Thank you Days hotel for spoiling this experience. We certainly will not be staying there again and continue to tell all.
