IWe needed a place to stay for 1 night in Windsor before heading off to the airport and found that the Alma House was reasonably priced at £85 (for the UK anyway) and not located too far from where we needed to be. I liked that we were able to check in at our leisure instead of having to be on a schedule and we were also able to pay the staff even though it was Sunday and no official office hours.
The location was a 10 minute walk from the castle, to get there from the Windsor & Eton Riverside station, it was a 15-20 minute walk and it's best to go along the river or Barry until you get to Alma Street than go up the hill near the castle if going by foot.
Unique Quality: We stayed in room 2 which had a double bed and 2 bunk beds so it could have slept four, the room was clean and comfortable and very spacious. The B&B is located on a quiet street with the exception of the planes going into Heathrow which will be an issue regardless of where you stay in Windsor.
The bathroom was small but adequate, there is soap and shampoo in wall dispensers in the shower and conditioner and lotion provided.
Breakfast was all provided in the room at a dining room table, packaged muffins, apples, yogurt, toast, juice, tea and coffee. People who are looking for the true B&B experience with a hot breakfast and chatting with the owner might not enjoy this particular B&B but for us it was fine. 10am was a little early for checkout, we just left Windsor an hour or so earlier than we had planned.
Directions: From the Windsor & Eton station it was best to go along the Thames to avoid the hill going up to the Castle
