How to get to....
Amersham in Buckinghamshire. I need to get there to meet a VT friend and wander around. I see it on the tube map but it's outside of zone 6, so assuming I need more than a zone 1-6 card. I'm not used to travelling outside the zone boundaries, so if I have a zone 1-6 day travel card, how to I get the rest of the way to Amersham? I'm assuming I have to change from the tube to a train somewhere along the way? Can anyone explain this for me please?

I think your one day travel card would allow you to get to amersham as it appears on the london underground map. The worst that would happen is that you pay a supplement at your destination if asked.

Yes Amersham is outside the normal travelcard zones, but when you buy the ticket just ask for a travelcard that includes a journey to Amersham. The tube runs all the way to Amersham from BakerStreet so you shouldn't need to change. Although as an alternative you can get a train from Marylebone which also goes to the same station - in fact from Harrow they share the same track. Don't know which part of Amersham your friend lives in but Amersham has two distinct parts. Amersham on the Hill is where the station is, and the Old Town is a long walk down the hill. But this is the pretty part of town with some lovely old pubs etc.

Okay, thanks very much. The friend's actually meeting me in Amersham. I'm going there to check out the town as a lot of my ancestors came from there, so I assume the Old Town is the part I'd want to be seeing.
