See the Colleges, with all of...

See the Colleges, with all of their associated buildings, chapels, quadrangles, bridges, gardens - you name it, these colleges have it all, along with a great history of famous scholars, teachers and patrons.
The most famous, and probably the most beautiful, is Kings College, shown below in a variety of views.
Kings College was founded in 1441 by King Henry VI and was intended to be a vast college to cater for former pupils of Eton school, also founded by Henry. Unfortunately, little more than the Chapel was built before Henry was deposed, but the sheer splendour of the Chapel gives an idea of how his dream may have looked.
This is a view of the entrance gate to the college as seen from Kings Parade.
The bridge of sighs
by extrajoce
This famous bridge is a replica of its illustrious eponym in Venice, but is still worth the sight. It is actually called "St John's College New Bridge", connecting the Third Court and New Court of the famous College. It was designed by Henry Hutchinson in 1827, and built in 1831.
Want to go swimming?

There's a very handy swimming pool in Cambridge, right next to Parker's Piece near the city centre. Check the website for a timetable; an adult admission will cost you a fairly pricey 3 pounds 20p. There's also an attached sauna and steam room at extra cost.
In the summer there's also the option of an open air swimming pool on Jesus Green. It's best on a hot day as the water can be quite chilly...
Arrive on the same platform as God....
by sourbugger
Every proposition is the result of truth operations on elementary propositions.
Cambridge Railway station was the location where Ludwig Wittgenstein arrived back in England after a long absence. The announcement of his arrival caused mixed reactions among Ludwig's former colleagues. John Maynard Keynes: "Am I strong enough? Perhaps if I do not work between now and then, I shall be."
January 18, 1928, Ludwig returned. Keynes wrote: "Well, God has arrived. I met him on the 5.15 train."
If he had lived ina different era he would inevitably have arrived late, squashed and annoyed. His philosophy may have been entirely different.
Green Street
by Sophie1980 about Green street
Even though the Games and Puzzles store closed down, there are still a few decent shops down here. One sells Anya Hindmarch bags and shoes (the only place in the area selling them I believe), plus other designer produits; a store selling crafts and hippie things; a second-hand book store; a back entrance to Borders. Anything your heart desires! Cheap to expensive.
