Bicycles and funny boats...
by Alice-Kees
We visited Cambridge on a day trip. It's a pleasant town and famous for its University. We made a stroll past many colleges. Most popular methods of transport here are bicycles and the funny flat boats on the Cam River. To take in all the sights I would stay here for at least two days.
A Cambridge Landmark

You're bound to notice the Catholic Church at the end of Hills Road if you spend much time in Cambridge. It's more properly known as "Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church" but I dare say you'll be met with blank expressions by many Cambridge residents if you call it that. It's a useful point of reference on the southern edge of the city centre; I pass it every weekday on my way home from work.
Like many things in Cambridge, it has a website, which is at:
www.olem.freeuk.com.
Indoor Sports
by Sophie1980
Cambridge's main indoor sports hall.
Activities such as badminton, climbing, squash, aerobics, and yoga. Has a gym.
Great for long stays in the city.
Open 7 days a week, 9am-11pm.
There's also a fairly new swimming pool, Parkside, next door to KK. You can't miss it, as it's got big glass windows so you can see in. Can hire for extra.
Wimpole Esate

Wimpole Hall is a spectacular mansion owned by the National Trust and lies about 6 or so miles from the city of Cambridge. It has magnificent gardens and there is also a working farm, which is self-funding.
The hall has fascinating servants quarters a walled kitchen garden a second hand bookshop to name but a few.
There are also walks that can be taken free of charge in the extensive grounds. The hall farm and gardens all have admittance fees.
Outdoor gear
by pocketpiglet about Open Air
Great selection of outdoor clothing, rucksacks, camping gear, footwear etc. This shop has excellent service. I just have to mention about one nice experience we had: one of us was planning to buy a fleece and take it as a gift to someone in Brazil. Since we were not sure about sizes we decided to buy two in different sizes and return the wrong size later. Although we were planning to stay abroad for 4 weeks and the return policy is just 2 weeks, the manager agreed to us taking both fleeces, he was most helpful.
