Holiday Inn Express Peterborough

Great location for the EOE Showground

I stayed at the Express by Holiday Inn when my work Christmas Party was held at the East Of England Showground. I booked the hotel room about a month before via ichotels.com, who i have a priority club card through.

The first thing I noticed was that the hotel have a very limited amount of car parking spaces, not generally a problem but our group of four all had cars, we managed to find spaces (some on the hotel site and some on the street.

The reception was very light , quiet and nicely decorated. Reception staff were quick to locate our reservation and check us all in, we were all advised about the breakfast buffet which was included in the price of the room. Thankfully both twin rooms were located close by and all rooms were opened using the key-card system.

Twin rooms were made up of two twin beds (as the name suggests), and were brightly decorated using the "express" blue, including carpet, curtains, and bed covers. Rooms all included, extra blankets, and pillows, and the standard, television, hairdyer, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities (boo - there was only two teabags).

Bathroom was probably my biggest issue, wc and shower were located next to each other and shared only one door, which could swing back and forth depending on which you were using. The toilet was clean and there was no shortage of toilet paper, the bathroom was well lit, but the main sink was very small, and there were no towels provided.

The rooms were all central heated, but with no controls to adjust the heat, it was the middle of November when i stayed, and it was far too hot in the room.

Check out was a breeze, and my quick breakfast of tea and toast was very nice.

Unique Quality: I would reccomend this hotel to other VT members, but only if they were specifically visiting the East of England Showground, if you wanted to visit the centre of Peterborough, there are certianly closer hotels for a similar price.
