Bawn Lodge is a great bed and breakfast situated just a five minutes walk away from Chester train station and a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Chester. The staff here are all really friendly and helpful and offered lots of ideas on where to visit while serving breakfast. I shared a twin room (no 18) which was on the first floor. The room was really spacious and spotlessly clean. We had one double and one single bed with a huge LCD TV, complimentary toiletries and a very well equipped tea tray - cookies, hot chocolate - the lot!! The only downside was, there is no double glazing in this lovely old building so there was a little bit of a draught coming through the window; this being said, during our stay in December the rooms were lovely and warm. For breakfast there was a choice of cereals and yoghurt, orange juice, tea & coffee and full cooked english breakfast which really set us up for a busy day sightseeing.
The Lodge bar which is situated on the ground floor of the hotel is very popular with residents and locals alike. They serve a very nice selection of meals until 6pm and host quiz nights on specific days. The best thing about this place is that we could not hear any of the noise from the bar below once upstairs in our room.
Unique Quality: The beds and pillows were very comfortable indeed.
Directions: Over hoole bridge from the train station. Bawn Lodge is located right next to the second pedestrian crossing.
