OAKLANDS HOTEL: CLOSE ENEOUGH, CHEAP ENEOUGH

Get in there!
Chester, due to its walls and small size, has some very expensive hotels. Oaklands is not one of them. Essentially they have 13 reasonable rooms above a Green King Pub. Book your cheap rooms through Laterooms.com so you do get in there. The beauty of this place is that it is only 7-10 minutes walk to every reasonable venue in the centre of Chester. Its about 5 minutes walk from the train station. You can have a good sized room to throw your stuff into, go downstairs for a pint or 3 and then head off to the restaurants and pubs of Chester.

You also get a TV in your room and coffee making facilities. Not much else, but the beds are good, rooms are clean and it’s actually quiet at night. Yep, no loud thumping music from downstairs. With its nice garden, large restaurant and Sunday Carvery it is more of a family oriented pub – not a disco.

The staff were friendly and I really enjoyed my stay. They also had a nice big free car park. Yes FREE. That’s important here in Chester. They are also 1 block away from a petrol garage. There are loads of restaurants, pubs, off licences and takeaway places between Oaklands and the centre. Plenty. You will not die of thirst or starvation here and out and about.

The pub itself is open:
Monday - Thursday 12 noon - 11pm
Friday & Saturday 12 noon – 12pm
Sunday 12 noon - 11pm

They serve pub food and have a children’s menu.

Have a great night out in Chester!

The Recorder House: WONDERFUL B&B

We highly recommend this B&B. Service was very good as was the breakfast. There is ample parking right at the site and it's convenient for seeing all of the city by foot. We loved being right at the famous wall and had a room overlooking the river, too. Our room was spacious with a nice bathroom and all the amenities.
