Towan Head
by sandysmith
As you leave the town of Newquay by Fore Street (just head in direction of the sea) you will come to a steepish hill which leads out onto the headland with a war memorial.
Either side of this are lovely coastal paths.
In one direction is Fistral Beach and the other leads to the tip of the headland here - Towan Head. Pefect for a stroll around and to watch the waves and surfers.
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

Drove here from Bristol with some friends and spent a week around Cornwall, we had about three nights in Newquay, we had a days surfing lessons, walked around the town, visited a few cafes and bars, which was an odd mix of very tacky, townie clubs/pubs and then ones for the local surf quotant with live bands. There's your usual amount of tourist shops and surf shops.
I got stupidly sunburnt after forgetting to put sun cream on the back of my legs and the whole length of them burned! Not very clever.
