Fieldhead Hotel & Horizons Restaurant
away from the town and very poor valaue
A long way from town centre up a steep hill, very expensive compared to the nicer places by the harbour, be careful to not book up front as you'll be charged. We paid £420 for 3 nights no dinner but only stayed 1 as town was flooded & the hotel dead.
Lovely Easter Holiday in a Lovely Hotel in Looe
Our extended family stayed at The Fieldhead Hotel in 6 rooms over Easter 2010 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We had 2 double rooms, which also had the own private balconies, 2 twin and 2 family rooms. All with their own bathrooms with showers and the most wonderful sea views.
The weather was glorious too.
We dined in every night. The 4 course menu was changed each day and was always very appetising, beautifully presented and with service to match. Interesting and seemingly good value wine list too.
I have stayed in a few hotels yet I cannot remember ever having such an extensive, interesting and varied breakfast menu with such items as Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs, and, something the Proprietor promotes, really tasty Kippers which he says are local. Eggs Benedict and even Omelettes of our choice. That set us up for the day.
We did spoil ourselves and have a cream tea one afternoon and excellent it was too.
The Proprietor works very hard, is hands-on and does really care for his guests.
Great relaxing stay despite the children and really recommend this hotel.
Unique Quality: Restaurant, Lounge and Bar are all sea facing and all comfortable.
The veranda is a very special place to sit, enjoy the sun and with that wonderful view.
Their pool was shut when we were there but would seem to me to be a real sun-trap for those wishing to bronze - again with a mediterranean sea view - you'll see what I mean.
Free parking and Internet. We had free phone calls when we were there too - amazing.
Directions: Between Town and Country. Lovely situation.
The Fieldhead - a great little hotel in Looe
Just had a Winter week at the Fieldhead Hotel in Looe and loved it. Cannot fault the hotel. Looe too is a super little town excellently placed for viewing the surrounding area, super sandy beach, rock pools, cliffs, working harbour, excellent town centre parking and all its nooks and crannies, small ancient back streets – one can just feel those old smugglers and fishermen - antique shops and even at this time of year, has a healthy night life – and the best little pub – Ye Olde Salutation.
We had a standard double with that fantastic sea view as do all the public rooms. Very comfortable, warm and one of the cleanest hotels and hotel rooms we have stayed in. Most hospitable host in Julian. Friendly efficient service. Great fresh food with an excellent buffet and hot selection for breakfast including the best kippers ever. Dinner too was excellent. We booked to have dinner each night and did not regret one of them with a different menu each night and always well cooked and pleasingly presented. The reasonably priced wine list of some 40 wines showed a professional skill of choice in its diversity of wine and price. Bar drinks a bit expensive, but then all are “House doubles”.
A big bonus is the free on site car parking adjacent to the hotel. Sadly we were not there at a time for the swimming pool, which I can imagine, is just outstanding during the Summer with its also wonderful Mediterranean views.
All that and the price? Very reasonable for all we had.
Yes, we will be back and have no hesitation to recommend it. Stay there, and as they say, you’ll not regret it.
