More about Trelaske Hotel
a fantastic hotel in a beautiful, peaceful location
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in a ground floor room in the annex. We had our pet Jack Russell terrier with us. The room was clean and spacious and led out through the patio door to a large lawned area, part of the spacious grounds. The hotel is perfect for a relaxing stay. The owner was extremely helpful without being overbearing. The breakfasts were great as was the location and general experience. I will definately stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend it. We used the hotel as a base to explore the whole of Cornwall. It was a pleasure to return to our room each evening.
Peaceful haven and Unbeatable Food
We endorse everything that has been said in the other reviews, so rather than repeating them we will just add further praise in other areas.Firstly, a concern to us was that the hotel may be too close to the main road however it is at the end of a side road at less a quarter of a mile long and during your stay you will not even know that the road is there. Secondly, Hazel is a perfect hostess and nothing was too much trouble. Finally, you must stay for the evening meals. They are superb, the best we have had anywhere and Ross is so obviously a talented chef. We wish Ross and Hazel every success in the future with the hotel with 4 acres of land/garden to play with, the potential is there for them to expand further in any direction they want.
Must be the best hotel in Looe
Having just returned from a five night stay, we really enjoyed the excellent facilities and hospitality provided by Hazel & Ross. A welcoming cup of tea was served on arrival - what a star - Very much appreciated after a long journey.
Hazel even provided aftersun lotion - the weather was much better than expected!
Our room in the annex was spacious, well furnished and spottlessly clean. The views from the windows and balcony were spectacular. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly be visiting again.
Loved the Trelaske
My wife & I just returned from a week at the Trelaske Hotel. The hotel was recently purchased and the new owners, Ross & Hazel, have created a beautiful and warm environment. The rooms, lobby, and grounds are awesome and well kept. Since it is a bed & breakfast, we felt very much at home and were extremely well cared for. The breakfast provided is filling, good, and cooked to order and the restaurant food was very good too. We loved everything about it and would HIGHLY recommend staying there.
The atmosphere, people, towns, etc. where so nice and relaxing we hated to leave. You have to go!

We booked last mintue to stay at the Trelaske Hotel as a treat to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we are both so pleased we did. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The accommodaion was clean and spacious and the grounds are beautiful. Nothing was too muck trouble for Hazel and she made sure we wanted for nothing. The breakfasts were lovely; especially the different daily sausages!! We are already planning to go back next year!
Its all true!
We booked two nights at the Trelaske on the strength of the excellent reviews we have read here. None of them are exagerated, this is probably the best small hotel in a wide area and by some margin. Hazel and Ross are not only trying hard, they are succeding. Food, accomodation and service are all exceptional at this price level. If you want a beach hotel, go elsewhere.
Our only concern is that it will become so popular we may have difficulty getting in.
They dont come better
What a fab place the Trelaske Hotel is
Hazel who looks after her guests like long lost friends and Ross who could cook for the queen
My Wife and I have been guests at the Trelaske about 5 time and it gets better every time
We even book ahead for the following year
Please dont leave us Ross and Hazel we would be lost without you

Excellent Wedding Venue
We recently had our wedding reception at Trelaske and a review doesn't really do justice to the brilliance of the staff and venue at Trelaske.
The whole event went so smoothly because of their brilliant planning and organisation. Our wedding breakfast was a superbly cooked meal from which we've had nothing but compliments from our guests.
Almost all of their ingredients are either grown on-site or sourced locally and the freshness in taste was clearly evident.
The room we stayed in was amazing. Wonderful panaramic views of open countryside which was so peaceful at night and in the morning.
The beds were very comfortable and breakfast was excellent.
We owe this hotel and its staff a huge debt of gradititude for making our stay so special.
From time of booking right up to our last breakfast before we departed the staff at Trelaske were just first-class. This is a terrific venue with a marvellous aspect, the food served at the wedding breakfast was scrumpious, with most of the vegetables and fruit being grown in their own greenhouses. Our thanks to Hazel and all at Trelaske for making Chris and Anne's day truly memorable.
Fantastic getaway, relax and superb fresh fish
My partner booked a surprise weekend away in Cornwall and she chose Trelaske Hotel for its location and the other reviews, and it couldn't be better!!
Trelaske hotel is between Polperro and Looe surrounded by green lawns and trees.
The Hotel is run by Hazel (front house) and Ros (kitchen) and what a fantastic job they do. We felt warmly welcome and cared for all the time.
We stayed in room 6 with two enormous windows overlooking at miles of the Cornwall landscape. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and a sofa. The bathroom was also big with the additional feature of a jakuzzi bath. Also in the bathroom there is a huge Velux window so you can look at the stars while having a relaxing bath.
If you stay at the Trelaske don't worry looking for a restaurant for dinner and eat at the hotel as the food is fantastic. Hazel explained us that Looe is the only day fishing port in the country which means that everyday the hotel gets a delivery of fresh fish. Not only that, in the hotel they grow most of their vegetables and herbs. During the weekend we had fresh scallops, crap, haddock, John Dory and prawns, all superbly cooked.
Then after dinner sit by one of the log burning fireplaces for your coffee or a drink.
Also the breakfast is freshly cooked, forget the warmed up buffets, Ros cooks the breakfast to order. Also try the muesli as they make it themselves!!
A few meters from the hotel you can follow one of the South West Coast paths which does a 7Mi circular route from the hotel to Looe, to Talland Bay and back to the hotel.
Most people goes to Cornwall in summer and I would definitively suggest to go there in Winter. It isn't that cold, there aren't many tourists, the traffic is better and the sea is rougher, so the seaside walks are much more exciting!
If you are thinking on going to the Looe/Polperro area for a relaxing weekend or mid-week break, I do recommend Trelaske Hotel for its rooms, its service, food and location. Can't find a single fault or "but" to the whole of our stay.
