More about The Tranquil Otter

Absolutely amazing lodges and setting

by TripAdvisor Member mediumlynne

We had a short mid-week break and loved every minute of it. The lodges are of the highest standard and very spacious, with loads of little extras. After a long day enjoying the local sites it was great to come back, relax in the hot tub for a while and then curl up in front of the log fire to enjoy a cosy night. Don't forget to take some bird food because you will be amazed at the variety of birds which will visit, some of which we had not seen before. Try it and I guarantee you will return again as we have done.

A little piece of heaven

by TripAdvisor Member sunflowers2008

What to say except perfect! we wanted a get away from the rat race break and are so glad that we chose the Tranquil Otter instead of the routine of a hotel.
we stayed in Lodge 2, ideal for a couple, clean and private, but with the comfort of knowing everything to hand if needed.
Impossible to get stressed! We watched the sun set on the lake in the evening and the mist rise in the morning. An idyllic evening in the well maintained hot tub, out in the cool crisp night air ..... pure indulgence.
Even the wildlife had it's own personality! A real pleasure for us city dwellers!
Thank you all for a really realxing stay ... already working out when we can come back.

A Perfect setting for a relaxing break

by TripAdvisor Member AzuWazu

It was the best deals I have done. The Lodge is situtated away from the hustle bustle and there is so much privacy that it seems like you are in your own lodge. The place is well maintained and the lodge has an excellent bat tub where one can sit and gaze at the open skies and stars.

It was simply amazing and we shall definitely return .

Nick and Tazeem are both great people and very helpfull.

One tip, do take a car with you and if you want to see all of the Lake District, take a Sat Nav with you. We were travelling everyday and chilling at night, it was awesome.

wow what a place!!

A truly wonderful, peaceful, away from it all place. we went for a week and stayed in lodge one which was even better then we had expected as it is really on the water's edge. we had some lovely walks with Frugal our dog and he had some lovely swims in the loch.
the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
can't wait to go again

outstanding, beautiful gem of a place!

by TripAdvisor Member misscawright

We stayed for a 3night stay over a weekend with our 10 month old baby. We were made to feel very welcome and were provided with a cot and high chair. The lodge was lovely and homely, very clean. The lake is so beautiful, it was ridiculously relaxing sitting in the hottub watching the sunset - such a shame to have to leave and come home! You would need a car to visit local sights but we made do with walking round the lake, feeding the birds and wallowing in the tub!
There was no mobile phone signal (which actually added to the peacfulness) but there is free wifi incase you do want/need to keep in touch with the ouside world.
The only downside was a mix up with the keys at the end of the holiday, the manager couldn't remember us returning them to her, resulting in numerous phonecalls, texts message and emails. However, despite this sad end to the holiday, we would love to return as we have fallen in love the the beauty of the tranquil otter... next time, we may even leave the baby at his Grandma's!

A Gem of a Place

Had the most perfect three day break - total relaxation and peace and quiet - and the Hot Tub was just the icing on the cake. Immaculate accomodation (and I am very picky!), and great that well-behaved dogs are welcome - Millie had a ball! Will be back in July!

A perfect get away from it all destination.

We went to the Tranquill Otter for our third wedding anniversay. It was a little difficult to find because of the diversations but well worth it. Once we had been shown round the lodge we enjoyed the homemade cake that was left to welcome us. We stayed in lodge number 8 which was immaculate. The scenary from the living room was breath taking. This is a perfect place to relax and get away from the rat race. The hot tub on the decking was fantastic. I will be going back to the Tranquill Otter when I needs to get way from it all and relax. Perfect....

Superb location and great accomodation - especially for mobility impaired

by TripAdvisor Member Frankie_Frog

We have just spent a 3 night stay in Lodge 4 which was great. Well laid out lodge with great high spec kitchen and superb bathrooms - especially the one for disabled access. The views from the lounge and bedrooms are fantastic as well, overlooking the lake. Sharon was very helpful when we arrived and even brought a higher arm chair to the lodge for my mum to use instead of her sitting in her wheelchair. Next time would like to to try out Lodge 1 so I can make use of the hot tub that everyone says is great,

Stop the world I want to get off

by TripAdvisor Member nigs88

Stop the world I want to get off is my wife's saying and what she would have put if she had been writing this review, and I totally agree with her. We spent a wonderfull 4 days in lodge 7 the peace and quiet the view the lake fantastic. We didn't want to leave in fact we wanted to buy it. If you want to get away from it all this is the only place to go we shall return.
Thanks for creating such a peaceful place.

A Little bit of heaven.

What a fantastic place. The Tranquil Otter is a little haven where you can forget about the stresses of everyday life and just completely relax - even when you have an eight year old and a two year old with you! The lodge was amazing; ours had a sauna and jacuzzi in it and even the decking outside was great with the table and chairs to eat alfresco and a two-seater rocking chair. Everything was immaculate and very comfortable. You even find a welcome tray on arrival with tea, coffee, milk etc and as a lovely touch, some homemade fairy cakes! We enjoyed the woodland walk and the terrific sounds of nature all around. We will most definately book to go back next year.

Nick and Tazeem were very helpful and friendly but respected your space and privacy. They can supply you with just about everything you could possibly need whilst there, including bikes, life jackets for the boats etc.. It is well worth booking the Longburgh Pool which is a private pool about five minutes drive from the lodges.
