We've been staying at this place for years. It's changed hands since we first started going, but it's the same high standard and warm welcome as ever.
The rooms are not the biggest you'll see but they are comfortable and clean and you get a TV and "hospitality pack" of tea/coffee/hot chocolate etc, and buscuits, replenished each night. This is nice, cos I usually like a tea & buscuit before bed.
The breakfasts are lovely and filling and they do veggie versions, so no problems there for us.
As well as the hotel there are also self catering apartments - Derwent Manor. These are converted from another former hotel that stands opposite the Derwentwater (and is now owned by the Derwentwater). These apartments are really nice
The apartmenst are well furnished and tastefully decorated and have full central heating, bathroom, kitchen & dining area. They also have TV and video, and a CD player.
Renting an apartment also gives you full access to all of the hotels facilities, and the room price includes one evening meal and one breakfast per person.

The Derwentwater Hotel is in Portinscale, a little away around the lake from Keswick and about 10 minutes walk from their. It stands right by the lake and has beautiful gardens to the rear that run right down to the lakeside, and a huge conservatory which looks out onto the gardens.
