Travel Tips for Keswick

Keswick Launch Company Boat Rides

by WheninRome

A nice way to spend time on Derwentwater is to take a lake cruise. For about 8 gbp per adult (different rates for children and families) you can take an approximately 50 minute complete circuit of the lake. However, my wife and I decided to hike part of the way around the lake, pick up the boat at the pier that is its second stop, and take the cruise back to the main marina area. By doing this we were able to combine the fun of a hike and the relaxation of a boat cruise. Plus, the price for the cruise is less by hiking part way and then hopping on.

What a surprise

by iandsmith

After Ashness Bridge, the next thing you come to is Surprise View. The thing that surprised me was how many people there were. It's on a narrow, and I don't emphasise there, road that winds its way up the hill to Watendlath (see next tip).
This place can get crowded and, having seen the view, I can readily understand why. It would have to be in the top ten in England. I took a sequence a 8 shots and have included 5 here to give you some idea of just how panoramic it is.

CUMBRIA - THE LAKE DISTRICT

by tkdqueen

"Cumbria - undiscovered (by me at least!)"

Oh my God!!!
Amanda (see homepage) and I were discussing how one always takes the place they live in for granted....so we made a decision to try and see new places.
So we went to Cumbria for a day which is way too short but its easier cos of my shift work.

Quaint little villages, footpaths etc.
But it's the scenery and the walks!!!!
Just look at the pictures!!!!

There is so much to see and do in Cumbria that you will find there just aren't enough hours in the day or days in the week. You can potter around charming Lakeland towns and villages, explore the history of the area at its castles and historical houses, enjoy the great variety of attractions or have some family fun at the many events taking place all year round. Whatever the weather, there is something for everyone.

A: "Warmish but possibly wet, I should think. Could be chilly. Might be windy. Just as unpredictable as the rest of the UK! www.wunderground.com is quite good for weather..."
