The level of service, quality of food and friendliness of the staff is exemplary at Linthwaite House Hotel.
The views from anywhere in their grounds are amazing no matter what the weather and both the public and private rooms are kept to the highest standard.
I strongly recommend a visit and can guarantee you will want to return again and again!
Stayed for romantic weekend.
Location fantastic, views over lake fantastic. Make sure you go to the picnic bench. The tarn is a real bonus , a quiet oasis where you can sit & watch the local wildlife including visiting deer.
On the down side the superior room was poor ,no view airless & small.
Was worth £50-100 pound per night not the >£200 charged.
The restaurant. Food standard a la carte fair , sea bass in barbeque sauce!!
Service terrible I waited 45min for cheese & biscuits. Chose to go to the town for 2nd night , much better.
Would we go back? Yes for location, but will try other similar hotels 1st.
We picked this hotel for a special break to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, based on the rave reviews already posted on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed in any aspect. This is a special hotel, both in its location and ambience, but also in its level of service, which is exceptional.
We liked it so much that we stayed for an extra night beyond the three we booked. This is a hotel that you want to spend time in rather than just eat and sleep.
Definitely a place that we'd like to return to. As far as food is concerned, breakfast is delightful. Service is leisurely (a pleasant change not to be rushed out as soon as possible) so those keen to get out walking need to allow for this by going a bit earlier. We ate dinner on one evening only, as Linthwaite's is certainly fine dining and we tend to save that for special occasions - so others like us will need to go into Bowness to find a simpler supper. We especially liked Postilion just off the main street. Altogether a stay that we greatly enjoyed.
Everything was right, the location of the hotel with its view on lake Windermere, the staff (friendly, helpfull, with humor), the food and a spacious room.
