More about Mylne Bridge House

Local flyfishing know-how

by TripAdvisor Member GentlemenFlyfishers

The place was great for us. We are an eclectic party of 6 flyfishermen who try a different spot in the UK each year. We got knowledgeable advice and tips from our hosts, all mixed in with a good sense of humour, excellent accommodation and tickets for some of the beautiful local trout lakes.

Excellent weekend

by TripAdvisor Member Rich_n_Ang

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Mylne Bridge and had a fantastic time, the house has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms were exceptionally clean and had everything you needed, each room has it's own fridge which is a nice touch.
The breakfast is just fantastic (best porridge we've ever eaten) with lots of choice and nothing is too much trouble for Jim and Lorraine, we were a party of 13 and tried just about everything breakfast could offer between us, although no-one managed to get near the pancake eating record.
Overall if you're looking for a place to stay in the Lakes you will struggle to find better than Mylne Bridge - and we will be returning.

Great place to stay

Stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Mylne Bridge House, to anyone who wants a good place to stay in Windermere. Rooms very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Excellent breakfasts served to you liking. Owners Jim and Lorraine cannot do enough for you during your stay. Will definitely stay here again.

Perfect Hosts

by TripAdvisor Member andyt21

Jim and Lorraine have the clever skills of ensuring everything is perfect and welcoming.
The location is quiet with own parking. Recommended restaurants within five minutes walk , borrow a brolly incase of rain.
The room was immaculate, comfortable and tastefully decorated Also equipped with a silent fridge, TV/DVD and a history of the building.
Breakfast is beautifully prepared and has many courses including fresh fruit and kippers to keep you going until mid afternoon.
Jim's knowledge helped us to fully enjoy our time in The Lakes.

Very welcoming

by TripAdvisor Member AinslieR

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mylne Bridge House! Jim, our host, was very welcoming with a great deal of knowledge on the area. Our room was very clean, modern, cosy and comfortable, we wished we could have stayed longer. All the major tourist attractions are close by and it is an easy walking distance to the local shops, cafes and restaurants. We would love to return and stay longer in the future!

Great b & b

by TripAdvisor Member mollyHarrogate

We spent 3 nights at Mylne Bridge House over the May bank holiday period and had a lovely time. We were greeted upon arrival by Jim and were given helpful tips on where and more importantly where not, to dine. The hotel is only a 15 - 20 minute walk from Bowness and is set back off the main road in a quiet residential area. The hotel has recently been refurbished and was very clean. I'd recommend the pancakes for breakfast with fruit and maple syrup, these are a House speciality and were delicious. Would definitely return to Mylne Bridge.

We have just returned from a week long stay at Mylne Bridge with our 3 children. This was our first experience of the Lake District so we had no idea what to expect. We found Mylne Bridge through trip advisor on the internet and being a family of five it was wonderful to find somewhere offering accommodation for us all in one room at a reasonable rate. Our room was immaculate and cleaned daily with regular changes of towels and bedding. Breakfasts are amazing and the children were particularly delighted with the unlimited pancakes and variety of syrups each morning. As others have previously mentioned on this website, Jim is an excellent host and a mine of useful information about the locality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return. We highly reccommend.

Perfect week in Lake District

by TripAdvisor Member stijn_moni

We stayed 7 nights at Mylne Bridge House for the occasion of our civil marriage.

The B&B is easily reachable by car and from the railway station. Situated at about 5 minutes’ walk from Windermere centre, so shops, restaurants and cafes are only a few houses away. Yet at the same time, the B&B is situated in a smaller side street so a good rest after fell walking is guaranteed.

Upon arrival we were heartily welcomed by Jim. From the very first moment he makes you feel at home, and will give you suggestions and help to make your stay more comfortable. Booking a restaurant, a hairdresser, lending vases for flowers... nothing seemed too much.

The room was very nice and provided everything needed (hair dryer, tv/dvd, coffee/tea, local info). The rooms were kept immaculately clean during our whole stay. It felt like leaving our home after 7 nights.

The breakfast is just fabulous. English breakfast with everything you would expect, including traditional local sausages. A nice alternative are the delicious (Belgian recipe) pancakes (eat as much as you can, counter is at 24) together with a fresh fruit salad. Also the porridge is worth a try, as it is just perfect. Really big appreciation to Lorraine for the lovely breakfasts!

In few words, we couldn't have hoped for a better stay in the Lake District. Mylne Bridge House, Jim and Lorraine surely helped us in having a perfect "honeyweek".
We will definitely return here for our next stay in the Lakes.

Small sidenote, make sure to take your sunglasses to the Lake District. Even in case of rain, they can come in handy as protection from Jim's shining bright Hawaii shirts that he usually wears at breakfast!
