More about Wheatlands Lodge

Fantastic

by TripAdvisor Member Lillyprimrose

We stayed on the 29/30th Sept for our Honeymoon, The 4 poster room was fantastic, very clean, comfortable and the host was excellent. Always there to help with local information and places to eat. Would definately go again. The breakfasts were brilliant and they really set you up for the day. Couldnt fault a thing Excellent!!!

Loved it !

by TripAdvisor Member 8netherfield

Just returned from a two night stay at the Wheatlands - we were very impressed. We stayed in one of the superior (penthouse)rooms and found it to be large, tastefully decorated with lovely furniture. The huge bathroom also did not dissapoint, freestanding bath, large shower, his and her basins and again very tasteful decor. Sarah was very welcoming on our arrival offering tea/coffee and biscuits and showing us to our room. The location is also great, 2 mins walk to restraunts/shops etc and just far enough off the main road to be quiet at nights.
The breakfast was superb with the continental offerings followed up with a full english to keep you going to well into the afternoon.
i would recommend this gem of a find to anyone looking for a quality and welcoming place in Windermere. Looking forward to our return visit !!

Fantastic

We've just returned from a two day break at Wheatlands Lodge. We stayed in one of the least expensive rooms however, whilst it may have been one of the least expensive it was no less than superb. The whole house is pristine, well decorated, warm and welcoming, Sarah showed us some of the other rooms prior to leaving. The hosts, Sarah and Joe, are very nice and the tea and biscuits on arrival is a lovely touch. Our room was superb and the en-suite a delight, especially seeing as we're having our bathroom at home re-designed and are using some very similar tiles.

The breakfast menu is very good with items such as fruit, cereal, yoghurt, croissants and various choices of juice for starters followed by full English, vegetarian or a light breakfast and then toast and preserves to finish. All this is accompanied by a nice pot of your favourite breakfast beverage. You eat in a superb dining room with views out over the small but well formed garden.

Windermere has been brought right up to date recently with nice pavements, cobbles, lights and some quality shops. The fact that it's an easy 15 minute walk down in to Bowness is an added bonus and means that you have a small town right on your doorstep and a larger town just down the road where you have the option of boat trips etc.

There's plenty to do in the way of walking with some well sign posted routes in whichever direction you turn plus there's the added bonus of the train station at the top of Windemere so you can roam as far and wide as you like.

I cannot recommend this place enough, if you're thinking about going just go, you will not be disappointed.

A little luxury stay at wheatlands

by TripAdvisor Member zoelovesholidays

What a lovely place!

We stayed for two nights in the 'penthouse' suite on a Sunday and Monday night.

The room was gorgeous, very clean & beautifully decorated with a contemporary style. There was a massive bed, big tele and lovely leather couch. The bathroom was huge and had a lovely Jacuzzi bath, lovely to relax in after a day exploring the beautiful scenery. Bath robes and slippers were also provided which helped make our stay more comfortable.

Breakfast was lovely aswell, very well cooked and a great selection of fruit, pastries, juices and cereals.

The location is perfect for exploring the lake district, a 1 min walk to the shops, restaurants and bars of windermere.

Overall a simple, luxurious stay with lovely friendly people.

Wonderful Wheatlands!!

by TripAdvisor Member CheznRich

We arrived late and a warm welcome awaited us. We stayed in one of the standard rooms which had a jacuzzi bath, flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The decoration throughout is contemporary but homely.

There was a varied selection of fresh fruit, cereals and pastries as well as a traditional cooked breakfast and a lovely lighter bite of scrambled eggs and salmon.

Sarah and Joe were most welcoming and the accommodation was spotless with ample car parking on-site. We would highly recommend this B&B and we can't wait to return!!

beautiful surroundings

by TripAdvisor Member jstaunton

A group of six of us ( all adults ) went to Wheatlands Lodge for an impromptu overnight stay. The hotel had been highly recommended and we were not in the least bit disappointed. Everything, from the warm and friendly welcome to the beautifully cooked and presented breakfast table/selection was a treat. The whole place was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. I'm looking forward to my next stay there. Thankyou Joe & Sarah.

'The ultimate retreat!'

by TripAdvisor Member ManchesterCosmogirl

Everything you read from the homemade biscuits on arrival to the the description of the individually styled rooms won't prepare you for the beauty of this hotel. Sarah and Joe make your stay comfortable and homely without interference and have some great suggestions of things to do in the local area. You look out of your window and see quaint houses and beautiful scenery for miles and you look at the room you are staying in and it's pure luxury-we recommend room 8 although after seeing all 9 rooms you would struggle to choose! We can't wait to go back in March for another perfect break.

This is perfection

by TripAdvisor Member Boswells

We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights and found it to be perfect for our needs. Sarah and Joe made us feel very welcome with tea and biscuits on arrival and from that moment we knew the break was going to be all that we expected.
The room was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean and the breakfast was probably the best we have ever had in an English Hotel with excellent service.
Sarah and Joe show excellent front of house skills without being too overpowering and are very friendly and eager to help.
We would recommend The Wheatlands Lodge to absolutely anyone and will definately be returning. Thankyou so very much.

Perfection!

by TripAdvisor Member FunkyMonk

Before we even set foot in the hotel me and my partner felt very welcome by the friendliness of Sarah whom I spoke to over the phone to book our stay at the hotel. We stayed for two nights and it was perfect. When we arrived we were greeted at the door and were offered tea, coffee and biscuits whilst we settled after the car journey and Sarah gathered our key for our room.

When we got to our room, although it was only the basic room in the hotel we felt amazed how well furnished and decorated the room was and how clean it was. Our breakfast the next morning was quite easily the best breakfast i have eaten in a hotel to date. All of the ingredients were locally sourced for the area and we felt ever so relaxed. We didn't feel at all crowded or overpowered by Sarah and Joe as they were very friendly and easy to talk to and their local knowledge of places to go was first class.

We reccomend this hotel to anyone at all and will definatly be returning to try the penthouse!

Many thanks to Sarah and Joe...and not forgetting little Ben!
