Did you know?

Bonnie Prince Charlie, a claimant to the throne of the United Kingdom, reached this far on his march to London. Considering his troops had come from Scotland by way of Carlisle, it was quite a trek.
However, the Prince was discouraged from advancing further because of reports that the King's armies were closing in. These reports turned out to be false and if the Prince had stuck to his guns he may have found himself in the thick of London and on the throne!
This statue in Riverside Gardens overlooking Derby makes you wonder what could have been. I like to think the Prince is turning for one last look at Derby and what could have been his destiny.
Derby Bus Station
by stevezero
The bus station was another part of the rivrside development in around 1930. The buildings are in an art deco style.
Unfortunately the bus station is planned for demolition in the not too distant future

"A nice city"
No really it is. It is clean, small and easy to find your way around. Ignore the locals who will call every female 'Duck'. They think its quaint. Derby has a good range of shops and pubs really and is quite a safe city at night as far as these things go. Quite a green city as well with nice parks and reasonalble transport links. Also, its the most haunted city in the UK wooooooooo and has ghost walks etc to entertain yourselves with.
"The university"
I went to the university here then didn't escape for a few years. I think its fair to say Derby has a big student scene as you can tell during term time. The uni is big and has a few campuses dotted around, as well as halls. It also runs its own bus service, although anyone can get on them.
