Royal Crown Derby Porcelain
by St_Vincent
The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain factory makes fine bone china at its site in Osmaston Road in the south of the city behind the Derby Royal Infirmary. The present factory was established in 1878 shortly after which Queen Victoria granted the company permission to include the word Royal in their name.
There is also a visitors centre on the site where you can go on factory tours, watch demonstrations or visit the museum, factory shop or restaurant.

Derby

"The Nicest City in the East Midlands"
Derby, is a small friendly city which is sometimes overlooked by it's East Midlands rivals, Nottingham and Leicester.
We have a decent sized shopping centre and indoor market, plenty of good restaurants, literally hundreds of pubs (more of which seem to be opening week by week) and the best football team and football stadium in the East Midlands (this maybe me being biased as I am a huge "Rams" fan).
We have tourist attractions such as Chatsworth House (which is well worth a visit) and Derby Heritage Centre which hosts weekly ghost walks (we are currently in dispute with York for the title of most haunted city in England).
We are also the "gateway" to the Peak District (a short ride and you can leave the city behind and be in peaceful green countryside). Places or interest are Matlock, Matlock Bath, Ashbourne, Dovedale, Tissington, Buxton, Bakewell as well as many more which I don't have the space to mention - many of these places have their own markets which sell very good local produce.
