History of Chelsea Porcelian
In 1770 Duesbury bought Derby? leading rival, the Chelsea Porcelian Factory in London. This gave him a base in capital and wealthy customers. He ran his business from two sites in Derby and London, until the Chelsea works was demolished in 1784. Duesbury?s products from his period are today called Chelsea Derby because we don?t know exactly how production was split between the two cites.
