More about Bowling Green Hotel
Some updating required
It was OK for one night but nothing as good we expected from the reviews or the fancy headed paper. Downstairs has been refurbished and there's a lovely conservatory-unfortunately nobody told us it was there so we found it at breakfast!
We must have got the only room that hadnt been updated (room 12) It was overwhelmingly 'fake wood and fire notices' and the bed should have been replaced about 10 years ago! The paint was chipped and the carpets were grubby. Good supply of bath stuff and tea and coffee though.
Bowled over by the Green
We have just returned from a 3 day stay at the Bowling Green.
He has asked us to add our comments "good & bad"
Well Tom here go's
The location, service, staff and food were first rate.
The hotel was spotless.
The hotel owner Tom was a star and made us so welcome.
The Not so Good
Our room decor was looking a bit dated.
And the window did not close properly which made the room drafty and cold.
All in all a grat pace to stay and we have booked for the same weekend next year.

Another splendid stay at this hotel, with the warmest of welcomes we certainly feel at home when we visit. Clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation. Excellent breakfast and nothing is too much trouble. This is our 6th year running we have stayed at the Bowling Green and have already re-booked for next year!
A great B&B
Just returned from a fab long weekend. The Bowling Green is situated within easy walking distance of the Hoe and the Barbican. Easy parking outside for £2 a day (bargain) for this you gain a lovely garden to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee or bring your own wine. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. Tom our host was first class and we felt like we were leaving a friend's house. Already planning our return.
A Haven of Calm
We have used the Bowling Green Hotel for many years and have always had a lovely stay. The location is ideal for Plymouth attractions, being close enough to the "action" but far away enough to be peaceful.
The lounge/dining room is light and airy; the conservatory and garden area are ideal for informal drinks (bring your own) and relaxed socialising. Our bedroom was equally pleasant. Housekeeping is thorough and efficient; cleanliness is perfect. The breakfast menu is varied, well-presented and tasty.
I understand that an extension and refurbishments are proposed within the next year or so.
This charming B+B could not have been better. Clean and bright with a friendly and courteous staff who could not have been more helpful. If I ever find myself again in Plymouth I would not stay any other place.
A brilliant hotel, Tom and his staff very friendly and caring nothing was ever to much bother.
The room is spacious with all your needs.
The food was very tasty and well presented, Tom and his staff catered for all your requriements nothing was ever to much of a problem to them.
Sited on the Hoe, close to the main shopping centre and the night life.
This was are second stay and have booked for next year.
Parking outside the hotel not a problem.
