More about Millbrook Cottages
Complete serenity and relaxation
We spent 4 nights in the Lakeview Cottage at Millbrook Cottages and it wasn't long enough!! What a wonderful place to relax. The surroundings were beautiful and very peaceful, the cottage itself was a complete sanctuary! Everything was 5 star, wonderful view over the lake, thoughtfully decorated and furnished, amazing bathroom with jacuzzi bath, wonderfully comfortable king size bed. We went on the odd trip out but spent most of our time chilling out at the cottage and in the surroundings. They really have thought of everything and I would highly recommend this place if you need a break from the rat race. I didn't want to leave, it was more comfortable than being at home! Also very green and into recycling etc. which is a great positive! Really hope to go back soon.
Get away from it all at Millbrook!
October 2007 finds us arriving at Millbrook for our third stay in 12 months which gives you a fairly good idea of what we think of the place!
This is a truly relaxing haven where you can escape from it all (if you want to!) or use it as a base from which to explore the beautiful areas of North Devon, Exmoor and Dartmoor.
In January we ventured out very little, other than to go up the hill to the local pub for sustenance, and spent our time writing a book together which we have since released!
Millbrook provided the perfect, inspirational setting to allow us to commit our thoughts to paper and gather our ideas together.
With 32 acres of grounds in which to wander with the dogs, sit and contemplate by the lakes or relax in the hot tub in the woods we can unwind, chill out and recharge our batteries.
Our hosts, Kate and Bob work hard to keep their customers satisfied and are constantly adding new touches to make the Millbrook experience even better.
We'll be back again before too long!
Didn't want to come home!!
This break was booked as a well earned break after a manic, hectic and trying year. The pictures on the webste looked fantastic but does no justice at all to Millbrook as a whole.
From the second we arrived at Millbrook we fell in love with the place. The location is tucked away and although a fair drive to the nearest shop was worth it! Note to future guests...if you have a sat nav definately take it!
The grounds and setting are absolutely beautiful, even on a grey and damp Octobers day. We stayed in the Lakeview apartment and would not fault a single thing. Kate and Bob (the owners) have thought of everything you could possibly need, from the well equiped kitchen, the immaculate choice in interior design to the umbrella and torch by the door. The hot tub stuated in a cabin in the woods was just the icing on the cake.
Everything was a absolutely perfect. We can not put into words what an amazing place this really is. Like other former guests we are torn between telling everyone about this place and wanting to keep it a secret from the masses!!
We have just mentioned how we wish it was this time last week so we could start the weekend over! We will defnately go back, even the seven and a half hour drive back in rain and fog hasn't put us off!!
Our Honeymoon! Wow!
We stayed at Millbrook during November for our Honey Moon. We only had a few days but WOW! They looked after us so much, champagne on arrival, candles and romantic music and we loved the hot tub! Millbrook is a fantastic romantic getaway and I couldn't have chosen anywhere better for our honey moon (browny points recieved from my new husband as i booked this!). The Hosts went out of the way to make this a special time. If you are looking for a honey moon location in the UK I highly recommend Millbrook! We have booked again for our anniversary next year!!!!
loved the mill house
An amazing place to stay, Fireworks were cool, very friendly and quiet place to unwind,
loved the fishing , the walks, the quietness of millbrook was excellent,
all the comforts of home,
the bed was so nice you didnt want to get up in the morning,
We stayed in Pulley Mill for our holiday in October. We loved the cottage, the lounge was very romantic with its vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. We cooked one meal in the kitchen which was a delight, the quality far exceeded what we had at home, granite worktop, denby plates..... But the best things about Millbrook was the grounds and the hot tub, we tried a bit of fishing and it was so peaceful and beautiful. If you ever get the chance Millbrook is a must!
lake view amazing
An amazing few days away! We thought it was going to be good but we were blown away with it all! Just spent the time relaxing in the hot tub and the apartment! Will definatly visit again!
A relaxing haven
Excellent accommodation (we stayed in the Wheel Room), thoughtful little touches such as a welcome hamper of local goodies on arrival, beautiful location, relaxing setting with peaceful walks around the 32 acres. The ability to take our dog with us was much appreciated. The eco ethos was particularly welcome, with a positive emphasis on recycling and energy saving.
The hot tub in the woods is the perfect wind down at the end of the day. All in all, thoroughly recommended for a peaceful, restful break, to unwind and de-stress.
A little bit of Heaven
We stayed in Lakeview for 4 nights during February and loved every minute. The apartment was large and had everything including a nintendo wii that my partner loved! The break was just what the doctor ordered and we are now refreshed, relaxed and ready for anything. The grounds were incrediable and the chickens very friendly. We have booked again for the summer! Thank you Kate and Bob for such a wonderful few days!
We stayed in the Secret Garden Suite for three nights in January and found it to be just what we were looking for. The suite was luxurious with a massive water bed that was so comfortable that it was difficult to get off of! The bathroom in particular was amazing with various lighting options and a remote to change the colours of the spotlights while soaking away in the freestanding bath.
The continental breakfasts were lovely and we especially enjoyed the little parcels of local fudge/cookies which were different each day.
We hardly saw anyone else while we were staying, and I particularly liked the way we were taken care of so discreetly. Breakfasts for the next morning were delivered when we had gone out, and the hot tub was booked upon arrival so we were given our time and just made our way down to the cabin to find it warmed, romantically lit with champagne cooling on the side and soft music playing. It made us feel so secluded that we need not go and find anyone and be shown down there, it was all ready and waiting for us.
The owners were away when we visited but we were very well taken care of. We don't drive so upon leaving, we were given a lift to the village and Bartek waited with us for the bus which was lucky because it never came! He then was good enough to drive us all the way to Barnstaple to catch our train.
I was torn between Lakeview and the Secret Garden Suite when we booked, and we definitely plan to return next year to try out the other.
