    Definitely Bournemouth's Friendliest Hotel

    by

This is a very individual, slightly quirky, guesthouse situated in a quiet side-street just off Bournemouth's "Triangle", a short walk from the town centre and within easy walking to the beaches and the West Cliff area.

On arrival I got a warm welcome and checking in (having booked through www.booking.com) was simply a matter of being given my room key and a registration card to fill in at my leisure.

My room was clean, comfortable and everything worked. Breakfast was definitely worth getting up for with a nice simple menu of freshly-cooked stuff, along with the usual juices, cereals etc and excellent coffee.

As well as the breakfast room there's a comfortable guest lounge and a pleasant garden patio for those of us with bad habits.

Unique Quality: People make places and here at the Blue Palms the hosts certainly make this place.

Paul and Avril are movie buffs and each of the rooms is themed around one of their favourite stars.

My single room was dedicated to Liza Minnelli and strangely enough "Cabaret" is one of my all-time favourite films - HA! I don't remember putting that piece of info on my online booking form. The room itself, though compact, had everything required for my stay (although I did need to rearrrange the furniture a little to make a decent workspace) and the patio area at the front made for an ideal space for having my cigarette breaks.

Also useful is the all-day snack and beverage menu which I took advantage of for afternoon coffees, although my in-room freebies were also kept well topped up.

I was impressed with this little place and impressed too with its reasonable rates.

Directions: A little bit tucked away in a quiet side street between the Triangle and West Cliff Road - use the website's map for exact location.
