isle of wight and stonehenge

You can do one or the other Stonehenge is out side of Sailsbury you could get a train to Sailsbury and then a bus out to the henge I should think the train would be no more than an hour so allow with buses a couple of hours each way .
The IOW you would need to get to Southampton IOW ferry terminal and the crossing can be from half and hour to an hour .Once you are on the IOW you can get a bus the best parts of the island are over on the south side or at the west end Cowes is very nice
either one you can do but yu really would be pussing it to fit both in on one day
Regards

You wouldn't be able to do both in one day. For the Isle of Wight you can take a train from Bournemouth to Lymington (about 30 mins depending on whether it's an express or stopping train, change at Brockenhurst) then take the ferry to Yarmouth on the Western side of the Isle of Wight (30 mins. crossing). From there you can take local buses of even hire a bike if that takes your fancy. "The Needles" a point of interest on the island is near Yarmouth.

There are no train services between Bournemouth & Salisbury. You'll have to go by bus and take another bus out of Salisbury to Stonehenhge.

You can't do both, clearly.

There are trains from Bournemouth to Salisbury. Journey takes around an hour and a half.

www.nationalrail.co.uk for times and fares.

You would then need to get the bus to Stonehenge. This goes from outside the train station. The old number 3 service has been replaced by a special bus:

So that's the Salisbury/Stonehenge option.

Real Chinese dim sum in Bournemouth

by gordonfong about Ocean City Restaurant

There are not many Chinese restaurants in the Dorset area that serve real dim sum. This little gem has grown from strength to strength it seems, providing a wide range of dim sum in a modern environment.

Previously there was really only Oriental Garden and then Chef Hong Kong but their range were a bit limited and the restaurants a bit small. Otherwise you had to go to Southampton, to the Pearl Harbour restaurant.

Note that they only do dim sum from 12pm till 5pm, after which is resorts to the usual Western-centric menu. Pork and prawn dumplings, prawn dumplings, steamed spare ribs, mixed seafood crispy noodles.
