Excellent value at the Queens
by A TripAdvisor Member
Just back from a weekend at the Queens Hotel, we booked this as the Tripadvisor reviews have been mainly positive lately. We arrived Friday evening and felt instantly welcome by the efficient, helpful receptionist. Our large standard room was a bargain for £50 per night B&B. Breakfast was buffet style, and the food was actually hot. Dinner was fine with plenty of choice. The restaurant manager and staff run an efficient, organised meal service. In our experience this is rare in large seaside hotels. You could enjoy a disco on Friday or live singer on Saturday evening if you wished. No noise could be heard elsewhere in the hotel! There were plenty of people staying and it felt like a summer weekend, until you went outside of course. All hotels should treat their guests this way.

An excellent hotel for the money. The staff was very helpful and check-in couldn't have been easier. They didn't even require a card to secure the room.
This hotel is an older hotel, as are most in the area, but the rooms are a little larger than usual and more than adequate. Only a couple of blocks from the coast and a five minute walk to food, entertainment and banks. Our friends stayed at a hotel just around the corner, paid more and got less.
The breakfast did the trick and the staff, when queried about where to go in town, immediately provided suggestions, directions and maps. A very nice touch considering that hotel service in England isn't always wonderful.
A note to American travelers heading for England...bring a GPS Navigator...you won't regret it.
Radiator that wouldn't turn off ever!!
by TripAdvisor Member HomerLondon
We actually booked to stay at the Suncliffe Hotel on the sea front, but when we got there we found it was overbooked. We were dumped in the Queens Hotel. The room was cramped, the water was boiling, the TV
was on the ceiling, the radiator would not turn off and the window would not stay open so we baked........The shower was stuck to the wall, the wall paper was peeling everywhere, the ceiling kept Creaking,
Breakfast.....day 1 no sausages, day 2, cold eggs, cold beans, cold bacon, cold plates, and NO SAUSAGES
Most of the staff were unfriendly, didn't say "thank you" or "have a safe journey " when we checked out

We stayed at the queens w/e 22nd June 2007, we cant wait to book again for the summer, absolutely faultless weekend. The room was perfect, no complaints on food or drink, room service was swift and effiecient and everything we ordered was in a fresh hot manner to which you would expect. Staff were friendly and accomadating, we would reccomend The Queens to everyone. Roll on the sumer so we can return.
Many Thanks to all the staff for there hard work, Simon, you should be proud of your team.

Sleepless in Bournemouth
by TripAdvisor Member mildred01
The staff at the Queens hotel were friendly and helpful, the room was clean if shabby, but I would never go back because of the awful night we just spent there. The walls were paper-thin and we were disturbed throughout the night by the people in the adjoining room and in the room above us. In the early hours of the morning a group of young men staying at the hotel starting running around in the corridors spraying fire extinguishers, shouting and banging doors. Despite a complaint to the reception desk this continued for over an hour. A loose window frame which rattled constantly in the wind didn't help matters. Good location and friendly staff but obviously the hotel attracts the kind of guest that is best avoided!
Worst hotel in England I've ever stayed
by TripAdvisor Member moys_joujou
We were transfered to Queen's Hotel from another overbooked small hotel.
We checked into Queen's Hotel, and got a horrible room with leaking toilet, tap, shower. Basically anything that could leak leaked. We contacted the reception twice, but only the leaking toilet was repaired. The bathtub was dirty and cracked.
Also, we chose the other hotel because it's small and quiet, and doesn't accept stag parties. So they put us in a hotel with a large noisy party of around 100 guest with loud music til midnight.
Walls are absolutely paper thin. In the morning I could hear neighbours putting down teacups and the chink of the spoon when stirring tea.
The duvet wasn't a standard one, rather just a thin felt cover, disgustingly stained and itchy.
The second day there was no hot water, the receptionist told us they have too many guest so we have to wait. Not enough water? It's a hotel, so plan like it! After 1,5 hour waiting and contacting the reception 2 or 3 times we were given keys to a room where we could take a shower. Strangely, in the other room there was hot water.
The cherry on the top, they wanted to charge us double of the original price. We got 50% the second night because of the shower, but i don't think it's enough considering the state of the place.
it was ok

Some people of the personel were friendly, others not.
Water was coming down from the seiling in the bathroom. it was fixed within 15 min. There was nog cold water in the sink. . there was no mini-bar in the room so we had nothing to keep babies milk cold. . The second night we got a bigger room (after some complaining) The day after we got a small fridge in the room. We appreciated that. The restaurant closed at 8.30 pm. Some evening we were there at 8.35 and couldn't get in. Service? At the bar we could only eat some sandwiches. Swimming pool was nice.
