After living in the UK for so many years I only discovered 'lately' that in fact we do have some nice fairly white sandy beaches around. Yes, one of them are of Bournemouth and Sand Bank beaches (South West coast). People are very much familiar with Brighton beaches, but they are pebble beaches. Alywas very windy, and too cold to even dip your feet in. Not the ideal place to soak up the sun really.
I went to Bournemouth & Sand Bank beaches one sunny weekend in July and to my surprise, there are some very nice beaches there. Yes, sandy beach !! came back to London with a totally different view of English beach. It is not easily accessible but with a couple of hours drive from London, you're there ! Definitely worth the effort ; )
