A Historical Hotel

Unique Quality: Built in 1549, it is aluxurious hotel right next to Corfe Castle, with a distant view of the sea. It has been given a 3 star by the British Tourism Council. They have à la carte restaurant where you can have fresh fish, game and English cuisine and a pub with English and continental beer. Rooms are from £45 (around $88 USD) to £85 (around $167 USD)

Delightful Dorset

"Corfe Castle"

Corfe Castle, the village and the... erm, well... Castle are loved by chocolate box makers and post card sellers all over Dorset.

This is living heritage at its best.

I'm sure that there are much better Historians on VT than me but some paranoid king who felt threatened by the castle's occupants ordered it to be destroyed. Holes were dug under the walls, filled with gunpowder and blown up.

It is such a shame because this is one of the best castles in a perfect setting.

The village is just perfect...

...for visiting.

Some people like to live here too though.

"Swanage to Corfe Railway"

The historical railway can bring you from Swanage and take you back again. It really is a step back in time.
