Summer Lodge Hotel: A very special place.

by CDM7

As soon as we arrived at this hotel we realized it was something special. We were greeted by a member of staff as we got out of our car who handed us an umbrella,as it was raining.
Once inside we found all the staff very friendly and helpful ,the bedroom was spacious and extremely comfortable with Ren products in the bathroom together with thick fluffy towels.
Dinner in the the evening was a delight with top rate ingredients as was the afternoon tea, which consisted of a variety of sandwiches, fancy cakes and scones with Dorset cream and jam.

Hotel situated in lovely grounds.
Great pool.
Peaceful location.
The staff.
Quality and presentation of the food.

The New Inn: Our stay at the Inn

by Jenniflower

We have only stayed in Dorset once, when we stayed at the New Inn in Cerne Abbas.

We have to say we were disappointed. Not only was the room substabdard, but the owner seemed only to be friendly toward the end of the stay, when we had to pay.

We were put in a triplet room in a renovated barn. It is quite evident when short cuts are made and they have been made here, all over the place.. from the lino on the bathroom floor (lino???), to the carpet that seriously needs recarpeting in the bedroom, to the uncomfortable beds etc.

If we stay at an old Inn, that has been around a couple hundred years, we would hope for some antique pictures on the walls perhaps?

The room came with breakfast, and this was tasty.. the usual English fry-up! Coffee wasnt very nice.

We didnt find the owner very friendly at the start, but he was more friendly the morning we were due to leave - and pay!

So all in all, not a good stay and we wouldnt personally recommend it to be honest.

Oakdene Forest Park: Hampshire Camping

by freya_heaven

We stayed at this site in 2003, it was pleasant enough, very much an all singing all dancing type of place with bar, restaurant, childrens club, swimming pool, evening entertainment etc. I personally prefere quite sites with not too much going on, but this was just the nearest to where we wanted to be. Facilities were great & I would not hesitate to recommend Oakdene. It is not actually in Dorset, but just over the boarder in Hampshire, still a great base for exploring the Dorset area though.

Wessex Royale Hotel: Historical Hotel

by freya_heaven

A classical Georgian period hotel, with many original features, dating back to the 17th century. Previously a town house for the Earl of Ilchester, later became a wine merchants before becoming a hotel in 1902

The hotel has 27 en suite bedrooms starting from 70.00 pounds for a single to 140.00 pounds for the honeymoon suite. Friendly staff, nice rooms & an enjoyable atmosphere.

Situated on the high street so great access for exploring the town, with a car park at the rear. I would definately stay here again.

Nodes Point Holiday park: Nodes Point

by freya_heaven

Nodes point is a great holiday park, situated on the east of the Isle of Wight. All the facilities you would expect from Haven are here, indoor & outdoor pools, bar, restaurant, shop. We didnt actually spend much time here with being out all day, a great park for families.

There is a little beach a short walk from the park.

Haddon House Hotel: Great

by CADUM

While visiting friends in Bridport we stayed at the Haddon House. Overall it was a nice little place to stay. Great breakfast and nicely appointed rooms.

Close to the ocean and beach.

For all your travelling needs: Bournemouth Backpackers

by LouiseTopp

This hostel which is five minutes from the railway station, has a TV lounge & cooking facilities. Its open from Mid May to September from 0830-10.30pm & 16.00 to 19.00.

The hostel opened in 1999, the owners have really changed it by re-carpeting & decorating the bathrooms, & upgrading the kitchen.

Rowlands Wait Touring Park

Rowlands Wait Touring Park

My first official camping experience. As you can see, we weren't used to putting up the tent. We did find out that you do need pegs! Thanks to a very friendly owner we finally managed to make something 'tent-like' of it! We had great fun at this wonderful campsite!
