Weymouth Museum
Inside Brewers Quay and upstairs, is the Weymouth Museum, which is free of charge. There are electronic interactive areas as well as a fine display of the town's social, economic, and maritime history. It is run by a team of volunteers and they are doing a great job, though some of the items could do with more of an explanation or put into historical context.
One large display area showcases the wealth of finds that the local metal detector group have made... from golden Celtic torcs, to WW1 memorabilia to Roman and medieval buckles, buttons and coins and clasps.
There is an old wooden chest on the way out asking for donations to help fund the work of cataloguing, explaining and restoring the exhibits on display.
