The Fairhaven Hotel

Be beside the seaside

The first thing you will notice about The Fairhaven Hotel is how dated it looks. The walls clash with the carpets and the carpets clash with the chairs.

The second thing you will notice is that the hotel is like an indoor maze, finding your room for the first time is a bit of a mission.

Despite the not-so-hot first impressions, the hotel itself was fine. Our room was huge and had a little table and chairs by the bay window, one double bed and two single beds, television, wardrobe and a good sized bathroom. The location is also excellent and is directly opposite the beach and not too far from the town centre. The rooms are not tastefully decorated but they are very clean which is more important.

The other thing I will mention is that this hotel is right next to a bar so if you've got a sea view room you're likely to hear some noise on a Friday or Saturday night.

Unique Quality: Car Park - Do not be fooled. If you can avoid driving to this hotel then do. We ended up down some dodgy narrow lane and then ended up scraping the car (a mini I might add) getting into the car park (big enough for about 4 cars) until some man rescued us and told us to park at another hotel-owned car park (which was also big enough for just a handful of cars despite the hotel having over 80 rooms).

Breakfast - The hotel has a dining room and also uses/owns the restaurant next door. Unlike alot of places the breakfast here is not a buffet and instead a waitress takes your order. I think I only opted for toast but there was plenty of it for me.
