For a personal sevice in a small charming boutique hotel, go to the Blanche House.
A gem of a hotel, Blanch House has only 12 guest rooms, each individually designed by Amanda Blanch who co owns the hotel with her husband Chris Edwardes

Boasting very comfy beds, charming rooms with nice toiletries, cd players etc - late breakfasts, checkouts and friendly staff ; this hotel is not that cheap, it is more for a romantic weekend with someone special..

The hotel has a wonderfuly intimate cocktail bar with proper cocktails (ie not made with a ready mix) and good quality restaurant and is located in Kemp town.

A good romantic option slightly away from the noise of the center with charming staff.

  • I put it in this as it is classed as a B n B but I go there to, well, drink, mainly!
It's the best locals local in Brighton, friendly service by none other than Liverpudlian Bob and his partner.
Full of old characters and "cheaper" beer than most of Brightons ale houses.

The best bit is the back room, not sure if I should let you know about this bit!! It's become a hangout for us thirtysomethings who listen to top tunes and play pool...... FREE pool on Mondays and Wednesdays

You can choose between a single and a double room. The single room has no shower or toilet on the room (the room is on the 1st floor and you have to go to the 3rd floor for a shower or a bath). You only have a sink in your room.

    Faxnumber: +44-(0)1273-821096.
    Email: info@orientalhotel.co.uk

You can have a week and a weekend-rate. Otherwise you will have a day-rate.

The reception/dine area is really great! :) The walls are painted red. And there are flowers in the room.
In the morning when you have your breakfast, you will be surrounded by nice music.
When I was there, breakfast was served between 8.30am and 9.30am.

This is a boutique hotel with themed rooms. Singles are about £40...doubles about £100. Its on New Steine...which is a square to the east of town...I think I've stayed in most of the hotels on this square!

The rooms in this hotel are REALLY great. The only bad thing is that the most rooms are at the street site. And the North Street is a really busy road.
This hotel is a popular one. Middle in the centre of Brighton.

Just had a two night stay here (thanks to DAO for finding us a great deal on the price). This chain hotel has everything you need for a weekend stay in Brighton but could do with a little decorating. My room was adequate but the bathroom a little on the small side with evidence that some sort of damp had created problems leading to some peeling wallpaper. However, it was clean and had the usual bathroom trimmings and a hospitality drawer with tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel has conference facilities, restaurant and bar.

Be wary of front-facing rooms on lower floors - these can be a little on the noisy side so if you're a light sleeper, be sure to ask for a room at the rear of the hotel on a higher floor.

This hotel's rack rate (standard tariff) would be way beyond economical but DAO found us a great deal at £28 per room per night. The rate I have quoted below is standard rack rate - do your research and get this at one of the bargain basement prices and its certainly well worth it; pay rack rate and you will be truly disappointed.

The Grand Hotel has - along with the Metropole - been one of Brighton's leading hotels for the many years. It plays host to Prime Ministerial stays during political party conferences and was the scene of a famous IRA bomb attack in 1984 which removed a goodly amount of the hotel's frontage and nearly took Mrs Thatcher with it. Because of it's iced cake appearance it's always had a slight edge on it's rival but recent reports tend to suggest that this particular Grande Dame isn't looking as sprightly as she used to be. People have certainly had excellent stays but some others report a fall from grace and a slow decline from chic to ever so slightly shabby. Luxury is obviously still to be had here but perhaps it needs to try a tad harder in certain departments?

The main dining room is the King's Restaurant which serves both a la carte and fixed price menus. The current price (June 2008) of the latter being £23.50 for two courses and £29 for three. Traditional style dishes on offer include oxtail soup, beef and ale pie, and rhubarb and pear crumble and thick custard. The Victoria Bar and Lounge serves coffee, cream teas, sandwiches and in the evening becomes a cocktail serving piano bar.

After overdoing it at the restaurant you might wish to toddle - or waddle? - along to the hotel's own health Club with it's pool, saiuna, steamroom and array of treatments from facials to body massages. Then again, you could have another cream tea!

The sea view couldn't be better...assuming your room has one!

Like it's rival The Grand, the Metropole Hotel has shared the status of top Brighton hotel for many years now. But as with many large concerns it has had to turn increasingly to weddings, functions and the conference trade to keep things ticking over. As a result some people say that 'fading glory' is perhaps a more appropriate description of it's status than the old soubriquet of 'luxurious'. There was a time - when both hotels were not part of large chain groups - when you would feel slightly uneasy walking into either establishment for fear of being sneered at... but those days have long since passed. AS with all these older hotels there are plenty of impressive public rooms and a myriad of accommodation choices to choose from. As ever, one gets what one pays for...

You can dine at the hotel's Windsor Restaurant or enjoy lighter meals or sandwiches at their Metropole Lounge Gar or Bar 106. There is a pool spa and sauna within the hotel's health club and a number of treatments are on offer. Most notable is the 'eyelash tint'. I assume that is the whole eyelid group rather than a single eyelash! Anyway, as of June 2008, the tint can be had for £12 - and for £8 more they'll throw in your eyebrows!

Splendid sea view - which you will probably pay extra for! Do check!!

In Brighton you have 2 hotels from Hilton: the Hilton Brighton West Pier and the Hilton Brighton Metropole. The West Pier is more further away from the centre than the Metropole is.
You can have a single, double or triple room.

I recommend to stay in a private Bed and Breakfast or Guesthouse accomodation. Brighton is a popular seaside resort, therefore it has plenty of accomodations. But in the high season it can be booked up.

Bed and Breakfast accomodation offers various advantages which make your holiday unforgettable: You get in contact with the locals and get a feeling for their way of life.
You get in contact with other tourists.
The cooked english breakfast is excellent and keeps you full until the afternoon.
