Heaven Farm: Camp site

by Mariajoy

I just stayed here one night. It's quite a basic site with lots of original picturesque farm buildings good shower facilities, a museum, tea shop/gift shop and a nature trail and a few chickens and ducks wandering around to give it a "farm" feel.

Most of the other visitors seemed to be either German or Dutch and a few Brits. Caravans park their vehicles closest to the facilites whilst those with tents have quite a hike from their pitches in the lower meadow to the toilets, water, shop etc. Children seemed very happy to wander around picking blackberries, but there are no other "things to do" here.

The shop closes at half 5 and there isn't much else around so make sure you come well prepared with food etc.

It costs £16 per night/per tent.

It's a good base for exploring East Sussex or as a stop over for those departing/arriving from Newhaven Port which is just half an hours drive away.

The Old Vicarage - Rye: One day I will stay here.

by nhcram

This 14th century vicarage is a Bed and Breakfast cottage and it is somewhere I have always wanted to stay!! It oozes character and they have won awards for such things as Britains Best Breakfast!!
Please tell my hubby (VT member Chrishc) to book a room soon!

The rooms look very quaint and have good views. Some rooms even have four poster beds

The Mermaid Inn: Luxury in Rye

by nhcram

This is the loveliest hotel in the town of Rye. It originally dates back to 1156 but was rebuilt in 1420. It is in a pedestrianised cobbled street and is a lovely romantic place to stay. The restaurant is also very good and they use only local fresh produce.

Lovely four poster beds

The George, Alfriston: Affordable 4 poster bed

by leffe3

A 16th century coaching house found on the high street in Alfriston. Some of the wallpaper is 17th century. Creeky old place it may be, and thankfully hasn't been renovated to the point of anodine 21st century 'perfection'. Also a big, welcoming bar downstairs with open fire and a well-regarded fish restaurant.

That 4 poster bed!
