Thanks Dave,
It looks fine so I'll try to find it tomorrow evening when I'm over.
I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn in Brentwood so I guess it shouldn't be far to go. Ian.

By the way, could you also recommend a good pub?
Thanks, Ian.

Try the White Heart Inn in Brentwood high st
an old coaching inn.

Even nearer to your hotel
is the Nags Head about 300 mtrs walk, a long
time since i had a drink their, quite an old quaint pub.
For info on Brentwood try VT member phil uk net pages.

Enjoy Dave

Dave,
Thanks for a good address,
I went to the Rajmoni last Monday and it was great.
Probably the best Indian food I have had and very friendly service. .
I'll return next month when I'm again in Brentwood.
Cheers, Ian.i

I realise that this question was asked way back in 2004 but for the benefit of anybody looking through this forum now (Feb 2010), Barking or as it is charmingly called on VT for some unknown reason "Barking Town" is 14 miles from Brentwood. It has a large local Asian population and hence is a good place to go for a good cheap curry. I particularly like the Farhana Indian Restaurant and Take Away . . .

http://www.farhanatakeaway.co.uk

It has been well reviewed by several VT member but there are many more Indian and other types of restaurant in this local area and in the town next door which is Ilford. Here is my VT page about eating out in Barking, Essex. Hope somebody finds it useful.

By the way, contrary to popular opinion there are quite a few modern sculptures of note, a few museums, a nice park, the Abbey, the Broadway Theatre and various places of interest in Barking.

You can get here by train from the Tower of London in about 15 minutes. Thinking laterally, you could stay in a hotel here for a fraction of what it costs in London. You can also eat and drink cheaply and take the train into London to see the sights after the rush hour. It will save you an absolute fortune if you are a student or on a tight budget.

The Brentwood Alps

Warley ski centre at Brentwood Park has quite a large artificial ski slope with nursery slope areas for beginners too. Tuition and courses are available throughout the year. Everything is available for hire.

My Hometown

by Cham

"Once voted the most boring town in the UK"

There was outrage about this view and as such they started opening new pubs and bars to change the view of brentwood being a sleepy friendly place... now the crime rate has gone up (still not too bad though) and it's not such a bad place to be for the nightlife.

Brentwood is where i was born and raised and is a very good area... they have some of the best schools in the country (well two of them) and it still retains some of it's sleepy charm. It has great transport links to london, and is far away enough to enjoy clean air and relaxed atmosphere.

Honestly if you're doing the whole of England in a few days I wouldn't bother but if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city then it's only a 30 minute train ride away from liverpool st.
