Only hotel available during the peak week

Hotel looked fantastic. Beautiful features. Nicely decorated clean....

we stood at reception for a few good minutes until anyone acknoeledge we were there. We got out room keys, went up to find rroom wasnt ready (fiar enough we were a bit early) but they shouldnt have let us go up if the room wasnt ready.

Bed was very uncomortable and only had a sheet and a blanket on. The first night was ok but then next night i asked for a duvet and they said they were too busy to go and look for one " look in the wardrope" and if there is one there you canuse that!

My husband called for room service at 9.20pm to order a beer, they said they are too busy. The beer never came.

The restuarant was shut on Sunday and Monday (?!!!??)

When it opened on Tuesday night, we were asked to stay at the bar to have a drink as the waitress was very busy (??!!) serving 3 other tables! we finally placed the order and she said stay at the bar and i will call you, which seemed very unusual especially if there was a lot of free space in the restaurant.

Breakfast waitress was lovely (Daniella i think her name was). She was smiley and helpful every morning. We were unlucky to have the miserable one on our last morning.
One morning we ordered baked beens for my son and they said they run out!!! How can anyone run out of baked beans? Just go round to the corner shop and get some if that means meeting your customer needs.

Generally it seems that the hotel was running with 2 staff members that were not really training at basic customer service skills. It's a shame as it cant be there fault but its down to management. Generally staff were moody, distant and not very happy to be there that made our whole experience and not very good one.

Unique Quality: Nice building, nicely decorated rooms

Don't Insult Our Intelligence

This is a review of the review rather than the accommodation.

The review by Sharon Jenkins is clearly written by the hotel owner, or a friend of the new owner. This statement gives you away:
'We understand that the Hotel has just been taken over by new local owners and their approach to customer care will make this Hotel a success'

As a paying guest how could you possibly know that??

At least fess up and say something like 'hello, I am the new owner and we are upset by the review and we are committed to making the experience better'

Don't insult our intelligence, by pretending you are a guest.

Was looking for a hotel in Clacton for this weekend, not so sure it will be this one now!

Tendrings best boutique Hotel

My Husband and I booked into The Kingscliff Hotel for a two night stay whilst visiting relatives. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We decided to book into the restaurant for an evening meal, the food was tasty and fresh. The head chef came out of the kitchen and chatted to us and other diners. Our room was light and airy and we fantastic sea views from the window, it was all clean and the shower was hot! We understand that the Hotel has just been taken over by new local owners and their approach to customer care will make this Hotel a success. We have decided to spend Christmas with our family at the Hotel and can't wait for the Christmas meal and trimmings

Unique Quality: Great seaside views and walk along the Esplanade.

Would never stay at Kingscliff Hotel in Clacton!

Upon arrival we were told the room we had booked was not available with no word of apology. We had been assured in e-mails and telephone conversations that the suite would be available.
The room we were given instead was just about satisfactory but the en-suite is so small men can not stand up to go to the toilet. Be careful not to bang your head on the towel rail when standing up from the toilet!
Information given about the hotel was inaccurate.
Decor and cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
Breakfast was not cooked properly and the tea was lukewarm.
The staff were more interested in discussing their private life than attending to guests.
And finally, we were overcharged!
WOULD NEVER USE THIS HOTEL AND I RECOMMEND YOU DON'T EITHER!
