Hello, nice to meet you

by graham46

could you tell me the opening and closing times of the pier, as I am a fisherman and would very much like to try this pier ?

This website

http://www.touruk.co.uk/essex/clacton.htm

says:

Tel: 01255 521115 to check opening times

---
On another website I found:

Day Tickets currently cost £5.00 and are available from the Pier's front office. Season permits are £75, which are valid for a year from the day you bought it. With a permit you are still restricted to 9-5 fishing.

That last sentence "9-5 fishing" is also an indication.

The town website doesn't give any opening times

http://www.clacton-on-sea-essex.co.uk/Clacton_Pier.html

which implies the pier is open 24 hours a day every day (although the attractions will not be, of course).

You can get an 8-6pm day licence from a machine at the pier entrance itself:

http://www.clactonpier.org.uk/pier-information/fishing-on-the-pier/

Fishing is only allowed from one part of the pier. The link above will also give you the other fishing rules.

Travel Tips for Clacton-on-Sea

Back after 30 years

"Bonio's return to Clacton"

I last visited in the mid 70's, a family holiday at Butlins holiday camp.
Few memories survive of that time now but, our visit on August Bank holiday weekend was pretty good. Clacton recently has had some unfavourable press and we were a little apprehensive. Anyway, the weather was excellent which helps wherever you are, we have a good B&B to recommend and found plenty to amuse ourselves.
Please take a look at what we did.
